Description
The Century Arms AP5-P 9mm with Brace is a compact 9mm pistol built on the classic roller-delayed blowback design, paired here with a folding stabilizing brace. It has a 5.75-inch cold hammer-forged barrel threaded 1/2×28, a top Picatinny rail, and a 30-round magazine, giving you a soft-shooting, accurate pistol caliber platform with a lot of history behind it.
Century Arms AP5-P 9mm with Brace Overview
The AP5 family is made in Turkey by MKE, a state-owned arms factory that has produced this pattern under license for decades. Century Arms imports it as an affordable way to own a faithful version of one of the most famous submachine gun designs of the 1970s and 80s, in semi-automatic pistol form. The AP5-P is the intermediate-length version, sitting between the short AP5-M and the full-length AP5. This package adds a side-folding brace so the gun is more stable and comfortable to shoot than a bare pistol.
Roller-Lock Action
The action uses two rollers in the bolt that slow the bolt’s rearward travel until pressure drops. That gives a smooth, flat recoil impulse and good reliability with a wide range of 9mm loads. It also keeps the barrel fixed, which helps accuracy. Roller-lock guns are known for flinging brass a long way and can be harsh on cases, so do not expect to reload brass from this gun often. The charging handle sits on the left side of the forward tube, in the classic position.
Barrel and Muzzle
The 5.75-inch barrel is cold hammer forged from chrome-moly-vanadium steel with a 1:9.8 twist. Its 1/2×28 threaded end comes with a detachable muzzle device, so you can swap in a suppressor mount or other device. Suppressors are NFA items that require an approved ATF Form 4 and must be legal in your state.
Brace, Sights and Rail
The side-folding brace keeps the overall length short for storage and transport and adds a stable third point of contact when deployed. Federal rules on stabilizing braces have changed several times in recent years, so confirm the current federal and state status before you buy. The fully adjustable rotary drum rear sight and fixed hooded front sight give a clear sight picture, and the top Picatinny rail accepts a red dot or other optic.
Magazines and Controls
The pistol uses AP5-style double-stack, curved magazines, and one 30-round magazine is included. Many magazines made for the original design will also work, which makes spares easy to find. The paddle-style magazine release and sling attachment points follow the classic layout.
Handling and Use
At about 4.6 pounds before the brace and 13.7 inches overall without it, the gun is compact but solid. It is fun at the range, quiet and manageable when suppressed, and a reasonable home-defense option for those who prefer a long gun style platform in pistol form.
Care and Maintenance
Roller-lock guns run dirty because gas vents back into the action, so clean the bolt head, rollers, and chamber after each session. Check the bolt gap periodically, and use quality ammunition.
State Laws
Many states restrict braces, threaded barrels, or magazine capacity on pistols like this one. Check your local regulations before ordering, and your receiving FFL dealer can help confirm it is legal where you live.
