Description
The Browning X-Bolt 2 Speed 308 Win is a bolt action hunting rifle with a 22 inch fluted sporter weight barrel and radial muzzle brake, a Smoked Bronze Cerakote finish and a Vari-Tech composite stock in Browning OVIX camo. This listing is UPC 023614857914, Browning item 036006218. It is a short action rifle that weighs about 6 lb 12 oz and holds 4 rounds in a detachable rotary magazine.
Browning X-Bolt 2 Speed 308 Win Overview
The X-Bolt 2 is the newest version of the Browning flagship bolt action, with a redesigned receiver and bolt. The Speed model is built for hunters who cover ground: a light, fluted barrel, a muzzle brake to tame recoil and a stock you can fit to your body in minutes.
Vari-Tech Adjustable Stock
The Vari-Tech composite stock adjusts for length of pull, comb height and grip angle, so you can set the rifle up for a heavy coat or a summer shirt and get your eye lined up behind the scope. Browning lists a 13 5/8 inch base length of pull, and the OVIX camo pattern blends into a wide range of terrain.
Fluted Barrel and Brake
The sporter weight barrel is fluted to save weight and has a 1:10 twist. It wears a radial muzzle brake on M13 x 0.75 threads. Brakes cut felt recoil noticeably, but they are loud, so always wear hearing protection and warn anyone shooting beside you.
Smoked Bronze Cerakote
The barrel and receiver wear Smoked Bronze Cerakote, a tough ceramic coating that resists rust, scratches and solvents, so the rifle can handle rain, snow and long days bouncing around in a truck.
Detachable Rotary Magazine
The detachable rotary magazine sits flush with the stock and feeds smoothly. Spare X-Bolt rotary magazines are easy to find and quick to swap in the field.
The 308 Win Cartridge
The .308 Winchester is one of the most versatile hunting cartridges ever made, with moderate recoil, excellent accuracy and ammunition sold almost everywhere. It handles deer, hogs and black bear with ease.
Mounting a Scope
The X-Bolt family uses its own scope mounting pattern, so buy bases or rings made for the X-Bolt, such as Browning Integrated Scope Mount System, rather than Remington 700 style bases.
Cleaning and Care
Clean the bore after each range session and remove the muzzle brake occasionally to clean the threads. Keep a light coat of oil on the bolt and wipe the rifle down after a wet hunt.
State Laws
Bolt action rifles are legal in most places, but hunting rules on calibers and seasons vary. Check your state game laws. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
