Browning Citori Gran Lightning 12 Gauge Overview
The Citori Lightning has been one of the most popular Browning field guns for decades, known for its rounded pistol grip and slim Lightning forearm. The Gran Lightning takes that classic shape and adds much higher grade walnut and gold enhanced engraving, making it a gun you can hunt with and still hand down.
Grade V/VI Walnut
Browning fits Grade V/VI walnut, a big step up in figure over standard field guns, with 18 lines per inch cut checkering and an Inflex 2 recoil pad. Wood figure varies from gun to gun, so the stock on your shotgun will not look exactly like the photos. Browning lists a 14 1/4 inch length of pull.
Gold Enhanced Engraved Receiver
The steel receiver has a silver nitride finish with engraving highlighted in gold. The trigger guard is silver nitride to match, and the trigger is gold plated.
28 Inch Barrels and Midas Chokes
The 28 inch barrels have a high polish blued finish, chrome plated chambers and a 5/16 inch rib with front and mid-bead sights. They take extended Invector-Plus Midas Grade choke tubes, and Browning includes Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder.
Lightning Handling
The Lightning profile is all about balance. A 28 inch Citori in 12 gauge swings smoothly on pheasants, ducks over decoys and sporting clays, and the 8 pound weight keeps recoil comfortable with heavier field loads.
Field and Clays Use
While the Gran Lightning is styled as a field gun, many owners also take it to the sporting clays course. If clays are your main use, consider a dedicated Sporting model with a target rib and adjustable comb.
Cleaning and Care
Clean the bores and chokes after each outing and keep the choke threads lightly greased. High grade walnut deserves care, so wipe it down and let it dry before casing the gun.
State Laws
Shotguns are legal to buy in most places, but hunting rules vary by state and species. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
