Description
The Browning 1911-380 Black Label Full Size is the Browning 1911-380 Black Label Full Size, a 380 ACP pistol with a 4 1/4 inch barrel, a machined steel slide with a matte finish and black grips. This listing is UPC 023614044451, Browning item 051904492. It weighs about 18 oz and holds 8 rounds in a single stack magazine.
Browning 1911-380 Black Label Full Size Overview
The Browning 1911-380 is built at 85 percent of the size of the original Model 1911, so it has the look, controls and manual of arms of a classic 1911 in a smaller, lighter package. The 380 ACP has more energy than a 22 and much less recoil than a 9mm, which many shooters find comfortable in a small, carry friendly pistol.
Black Label Features
The Black Label 1911-380 pairs a lightweight composite frame with a machined steel slide and a target crowned barrel. Browning adds an extended ambidextrous manual safety, a beavertail grip safety and a skeletonized hammer, the kind of upgrades usually found on custom 1911s.
Ambidextrous Safety
The extended ambidextrous safety is easy to sweep off and on with either thumb, which makes the pistol a good choice for left handed shooters and for practicing one handed drills.
Sights and Shooting
Browning fits fixed combat sights with a 5 3/8 inch sight radius. The single action trigger and mild recoil make it easy to shoot small groups, and it is a good pistol for new shooters as well as experienced 1911 fans.
85 Percent Scale
Because the frame and slide are scaled down, the grip fits smaller hands well. Standard 1911 holsters and magazines will not fit, so buy holsters and spare magazines made specifically for the 1911-380.
Accessories and Upgrades
Browning and several aftermarket makers offer holsters, spare magazines and grip panels sized for these smaller pistols. A second or third magazine is worth buying right away, since it makes range sessions more fun and lets you practice reloads. Many owners also add a small cleaning kit and a lockable case, which some states require for transport.
Carry Considerations
Like any 1911 style pistol it is single action, so practice carrying and drawing with the manual safety engaged until it is second nature. Pick a quality jacketed hollow point load for defense and test it for function.
State Laws
Some states limit which handguns can be sold, restrict magazine capacity or limit features. Check your state law before you order. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
