Black Rain Spec15 Betsy Ross 250th Overview
Black Rain Ordnance builds its rifles in Neosho, Missouri, and the Spec15 line is its core AR-15 platform: a dependable carbine with a cleaner finish and better small parts than many entry level rifles. It was made to mark the Semiquincentennial, the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026, and it is as much a keepsake as it is a shooter.
Receiver and Finish
The aluminum upper and lower are finished in a custom Betsy Ross inspired Cerakote pattern in red, white and blue. Cerakote is a baked on ceramic finish that resists scratches, solvents and corrosion. The finish is applied by hand, so expect small differences from rifle to rifle and from the photos.
Barrel
The 16 inch barrel is the usual choice for a general purpose AR. It is handy in a truck or a hallway, legal without any NFA paperwork, and long enough to keep good velocity for steel and varmints out to a few hundred yards. It is chambered for 5.56 NATO, so it also fires 223 Remington.
Stock and Grip
It wears a Magpul MOE SL carbine stock, which adjusts for length of pull and has a slim, snag free profile, along with a black Magpul grip. Both are well proven designs and easy to replace if you prefer something else.
Optics and Sights
This rifle does not include an optic or iron sights. Most owners add a red dot or a low power variable scope. If you plan to keep it as a collector rifle, choose a mount with smooth clamping surfaces so it will not mar the finish.

The flat top upper has a full length Picatinny rail, so you can mount a red dot, a low power variable scope, a magnifier or backup iron sights. The 50 state engraving runs along the rail, so plan your scope and light mounts so they do not cover the parts you most want to show off.
