Description
The Berger 6.5 PRC 153.5gr LRHT is a precision target load designed around the 6.5 Precision Rifle Cartridge. Berger pairs its heaviest-in-class 153.5 grain Long Range Hybrid Target bullet with Vihtavuori powder and Lapua brass, and lists a muzzle velocity of 2,900 fps from a 26 inch barrel. Each box holds 20 rounds.
What Makes the Berger 6.5 PRC 153.5gr LRHT a Top Target Load
Heavy-for-caliber bullets hold velocity and resist wind better than lighter ones, and the 153.5 grain bullet is the heaviest-in-class 6.5mm in Berger lineup. According to Berger published data, it still carries about 1,721 fps and over 1,000 ft-lbs at 1,000 yards.
The bullet uses a hybrid ogive for easy tuning and a flat trajectory, along with Meplat Reduction Technology to raise and stabilize the ballistic coefficient. J4 precision jackets and a consistent core keep weight and concentricity tightly controlled.
Loaded in Lapua cases with Vihtavuori powder, this 6.5 PRC match ammo is built from components that precision shooters already trust in their handloads.
Using This Load at the Range
As a 1000 yard target load, this is ideal for PRS-style matches, long range steel and precision practice. It is a target bullet, so choose a dedicated hunting load such as the 140 grain Elite Hunter for game.
Long 153.5 grain bullets require a fast twist rate for stability. Use Berger twist rate calculator or check your barrel specifications before buying in quantity.
Chronograph your rifle and true your ballistic solver to observed drops at distance. Barrel length and temperature both affect velocity, so collect data across a range of conditions over the season.
The 6.5 PRC also wears barrels faster than smaller 6.5 cartridges, so track your round count and watch for changes in accuracy.

Who Should Buy This Load
Precision rifle competitors and long range shooters with a 6.5 PRC will find this Berger load one of the most capable factory options available. It offers match components and heavy-bullet ballistics without handloading.
The trade-offs are cost and barrel life. Many shooters use factory match ammunition for competitions and as a benchmark while developing their own loads.
Browse the MAG5 Firearms ammunition selection for more precision loads, and see Berger Bullets for ballistic calculators.
Store ammunition in a cool, dry place and keep boxes shaded between stages. Temperature swings change velocity and vertical impacts at long range.
Keep a data book for every session, including wind calls and observed drops, so each trip to the range improves your hit rate.
Who it is for: 6.5 PRC owners focused on long range target shooting and competition. Follow all federal, state and local laws when purchasing and transporting this ammunition.
