Description

Berger 260 Rem 130gr Hybrid OTM Tactical is match ammunition built around the bullet that made Berger a fixture in precision rifle competition. The 130 grain Hybrid OTM leaves the muzzle at 2847 fps with a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.560 and a G7 of 0.287. Berger catalogues it as 30020, twenty rounds to the box, loaded in the United States on reloadable brass.

What a Hybrid Ogive Actually Solves
Bullet noses are traditionally either tangent or secant. Tangent ogives are forgiving of seating depth and easy to tune, but less efficient in flight. Secant ogives are more efficient and notoriously fussy, sometimes shooting well only within a few thousandths of one particular jump to the lands. The hybrid blends both: a tangent section where it meets the bearing surface, transitioning to secant toward the tip.
The practical payoff is that this bullet delivers close to secant efficiency without demanding secant precision in seating depth. For factory loaded ammunition that matters enormously, because Berger cannot tune the seating depth to your individual chamber. A hybrid ogive is why this 260 Remington match ammo shoots well across a wide range of rifles rather than only in the ones it happens to suit.
The numbers back it up. A G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.560 and a G7 of 0.287 at 2847 fps put this well ahead of most factory .260 loads for wind resistance and retained velocity. Berger publishes G7 alongside G1, which is the more meaningful figure for a boat tail match bullet and a sign they expect the ammunition to be used by people who care about the distinction.
Berger 260 Rem 130gr Hybrid OTM Specifications
Berger loads this in the United States on brass cases, boxer primed and fully reloadable. The OTM designation stands for open tip match, which is a manufacturing method for concentricity rather than an expanding hollow point design.

Honest Notes on Match Ammunition
OTM does not mean hunting hollow point. The open tip is a by product of forming the jacket from the base up, which produces better concentricity than a conventional lead tip. It is not designed to expand and it should not be chosen as a hunting bullet on the assumption that it will. If you want a .260 hunting load, a bonded or polymer tipped bullet is the right tool.
Check your twist rate. A 130 grain 6.5mm bullet needs 1-8 or faster to stabilise properly, and while most .260 Remington rifles are cut that way, some older ones intended for 120 grain bullets are not. Confirm before ordering a case of Berger 260 Rem 130gr Hybrid OTM Tactical.
Match ammunition is priced accordingly and this is no exception. It is worth it if you are shooting for score or stretching past 600 yards, and hard to justify for casual range work. Many owners buy a box to establish what their rifle is capable of, then reload to match it using the same bullet.
Finally, .260 Remington ammunition is not widely stocked. The 6.5 Creedmoor took most of the market and factory .260 options have narrowed considerably. If this load shoots well in your rifle, buy several boxes and keep every case.
