Description
The Bergara Wilderness Sierra 22 Creedmoor is a lightweight, weather-ready hunting rifle from the Bergara Wilderness series. This configuration (Bergara model B14S814, UPC 043125001422) pairs a 20-inch deep-fluted No. 5 taper barrel in Sniper Grey Cerakote, threaded 5/8×24 with an Omni muzzle brake, with a sporter stock that has an adjustable comb and a SoftTouch woodland camo finish with black webbing.
Bergara Wilderness Sierra 22 Creedmoor Overview
The Sierra was designed for hunters who want the fit of a custom rifle without paying custom prices. The adjustable comb lets you line your eye up with the scope perfectly, and the slightly more vertical grip and quarter-inch length-of-pull spacers let you tune the stock to your build. Bergara backs it with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee with quality factory ammunition.
Adjustable Comb Sporter Stock
A flush Allen screw on the side of the stock raises or lowers the comb, so you can set a solid cheek weld behind a low or high scope mount. The modern sporter shape carries well in the hand, and the SoftTouch coating gives a secure hold with wet or gloved hands.
Fluted Barrel and Omni Muzzle Brake
The deep flutes trim weight from the No. 5 taper barrel while keeping it stiff and accurate. The Sniper Grey Cerakote finish protects it from rain, snow and blood, and the threaded muzzle ships with the Omni brake installed to tame recoil. Remove the brake and the same threads accept a suppressor.
Flat-Shooting 22 Creedmoor
The 22 Creedmoor necks the 6.5 Creedmoor case down to fire long, high-BC .224 caliber bullets at very high velocity. It shoots remarkably flat with light recoil, making it a favorite for coyotes and other varmints at long range, and with heavy-for-caliber bullets many hunters also use it on deer-sized game where legal. The hinged floorplate holds 4 rounds and makes unloading quick and safe.
Smooth B-14 Action
The B-14 action uses a two-lug bolt with a sliding plate extractor and a coned bolt nose and breech for smooth feeding and extraction. It is finished in Sniper Grey Cerakote and drilled and tapped for Remington 700 short-action scope bases.
Choosing Ammunition
Try two or three quality hunting loads and pick the one that groups best from your barrel. Once you find it, buy enough of a single lot to sight in, practice and hunt with the same ammunition all season so your zero and drops stay the same.
Hunting Season Checklist
Pack a sling, a spare box of ammunition, scope covers and a copy of your license and tags. Double check that the scope rings and base screws are tight before every trip, and bring a small rag to wipe rain or snow from the glass.
Setting Up Optics
A 3-9×40 or 4-12×40 scope in sturdy rings suits this rifle well. Zero at 100 yards, then confirm where your load lands at 200 and 300 yards so you know exactly where to hold.
Practice Before the Season
Spend a few range days shooting from the positions you will actually use in the field: sitting with shooting sticks, kneeling and off a backpack.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the bore with a copper solvent after the range and after the hunt, wipe the bolt and lugs, and put a light coat of oil on exposed metal.
Safe Storage at Home
Store the rifle unloaded in a locked safe or cabinet with ammunition kept separately, and teach everyone in the household basic safety rules.
