Description
The Bergara Premier MgMicro Lite 6.5 PRC is a chassis rifle that weighs about what a walnut stocked hunting rifle weighs. Bergara builds it around an XLR ATOM magnesium chassis and a CURE carbon barrel, and chambers it in the short magnum most long range hunters would choose today.
Bergara Premier MgMicro Lite 6.5 PRC Barrel and Muzzle
The 18 in. barrel is a Bergara CURE carbon barrel, a stainless core with a centre wrapped carbon weave rather than a simple sleeve. That takes real weight out of the front of the rifle while keeping enough stiffness to hold a group, and it pulls heat out of the steel faster than bare metal does.
Rifling is a 1:8 twist, correct for the 140 to 156 grain high ballistic coefficient bullets 6.5 PRC was designed around, and the muzzle is threaded 5/8×24. Eighteen inches is short for a magnum and deliberately so, because this rifle is built to be carried and suppressed rather than to win a velocity argument.
The XLR ATOM Magnesium Chassis
The chassis is an XLR ATOM in magnesium, weighing somewhere between fourteen and sixteen ounces on its own. Magnesium is roughly a third lighter than aluminium at similar stiffness, and it is the only reason a chassis rifle can weigh under six pounds.
The forend carries an integrated ARCA rail with M-LOK slots, so a bipod, a tripod clamp or a barricade stop mounts directly without adapters. The buttstock is carbon fiber and folds to the side, with an adjustable cheek rest and a LimbSaver pad, and the grip is a carbon fiber ambidextrous flat top AR pattern.
Action, Trigger and Magazine
The Bergara Premier action is a two lug design with a separate floating bolt head and a cone shaped bolt nose. The floating head lets the lugs self align against the receiver as they lock, which is a real accuracy advantage, and the coned nose funnels cartridges into the chamber smoothly.
A TriggerTech trigger with Frictionless Release Technology handles the break. The scope base is Remington 700 pattern with 8-40 screws rather than the smaller 6-48, and the rifle feeds from AICS pattern detachable magazines.

An 18 Inch Magnum and a Suppressor
Short magnum barrels used to be a compromise nobody wanted. Suppressors changed that arithmetic, because a can adds six to eight inches to the front of a rifle and an 18 inch barrel with a suppressor is roughly the length of a 24 inch barrel without one.
6.5 PRC gives up some velocity at 18 inches, which is honest, but what remains still beats 6.5 Creedmoor from a longer barrel and the rifle handles like something you can actually carry up a mountain.
Why Buyers Choose the Bergara Premier MgMicro Lite 6.5 PRC
Chassis rifles are usually heavy and light rifles usually give up adjustability. Magnesium lets this one avoid both problems. An adjustable cheek rest, adjustable length of pull, an ARCA rail, AICS magazines and a folding stock at under six pounds is a combination almost nothing else offers.
The component list is also what an experienced shooter would specify anyway. A CURE carbon barrel, a Premier action with a floating bolt head, a TriggerTech trigger and 8-40 base screws are the right individual choices, and they are all standard here.
Who Should Buy It
The Bergara Premier MgMicro Lite 6.5 PRC suits backcountry hunters who shoot from packs and tripods, suppressor owners who want a short handy magnum, and shooters who need one rifle for both the range and the mountain. Folded it fits luggage and pack dimensions a conventional rifle cannot, which matters for fly in hunts.
