Bergara B-14 Hunter FSP 300 Win Mag Overview
Bergara barrels are made in Spain, and the B-14 action is known for accuracy at a working rifle price. The FSP Hunter Stainless adds the corrosion resistance of stainless steel and a weather proof finish, so it is a rifle you can take into rain, snow and salt air without worry.
Stainless Steel and Cerakote
The barrel, receiver and bolt are stainless steel, and the outer surfaces wear a Tactical Gray Cerakote finish. Stainless resists rust far better than blued steel, and the ceramic coating adds another layer of protection against scratches and moisture.
Fluted, Threaded Barrel
The 22 inch barrel is fluted to save weight and add surface area for cooling, and it has a 1:10 twist. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 for a suppressor or muzzle brake. A suppressor requires an approved ATF Form 4 and is not legal in every state.
Trigger and Bolt
The Bergara Performance Trigger is externally adjustable and averages about 3 lb, crisp enough for precise shots on game. The two lug bolt has spiral flutes, and a two position safety lets you work the bolt to unload with the safety on.
Stock and Magazine
The glass fiber reinforced polymer stock is black with gray spider webbing, a pattern made for this run. A hinged floorplate magazine lets you unload without cycling every round through the action. Bergara lists the line starting at about 6.2 lb.
The .300 Win Mag Cartridge
The .300 Winchester Magnum is a classic long range hunting round for elk, moose and big deer, with a flat trajectory out to 400 yards and beyond. It kicks noticeably more than .308, so a good recoil pad, a brake or a suppressor makes practice more pleasant. Ammunition is widely available in many bullet weights.
Accuracy Guarantee
Bergara backs this rifle with its sub-MOA accuracy guarantee when used with quality ammunition. Give a new barrel a short break in, let it cool between groups and test a few loads to find the one your rifle likes best.
Mounting a Scope
The B-14 action uses the Remington 700 footprint, so scope bases and rails are easy to find. Choose rings that put the scope as low as practical while clearing the barrel and bolt handle.
Cleaning and Care
Even stainless rifles need care. Wipe the rifle down after a wet hunt, keep a light coat of oil on the bolt and clean the bore after each range session. Check action screws periodically.
