Beretta BRX1 30-06 Black Straight-Pull 20in — Superb Hunting Rifle

Description

The Beretta BRX1 30-06 Black puts Beretta’s straight-pull action behind the .30-06 Springfield, which remains the most versatile hunting cartridge in North America. Everything from 150 grain deer loads to 220 grain bullets for elk and moose runs in the same rifle, and the ammunition is on the shelf of every hardware store between here and Alaska.

This is part number JBRX1EN320: five rounds plus one, a 20-inch threaded black steel barrel, a Picatinny rail machined into the receiver, and a black synthetic stock with a negative comb and adjustable length of pull. The Beretta BRX1 30-06 Black is ambidextrous, with a bolt handle that swaps sides.

Why the straight-pull suits a .30-06

• No bolt lift, so a cartridge with real recoil does not also cost you your position
• The scope stays roughly on target through the cycle, letting you call your own shot
• A genuinely fast second shot on an animal that has moved
• Ambidextrous by design, with the bolt handle swapping to the left side
• A 20-inch barrel keeps a full-power cartridge in a rifle you can carry

What .30-06 still does better than anything newer

• Bullet weights from 110 to 220 grains, which no short-action cartridge can match
• Adequate for every game animal on the continent with the right load
• Ammunition availability that no modern cartridge comes close to
• A century of load data, so handloaders have nothing to work out from scratch
• Recoil that is real but manageable in a rifle of this weight

Twenty inches on a .30-06

The traditional .30-06 barrel is 22 or 24 inches, and a 20-inch tube gives up some velocity against those. What it returns is a rifle that handles in timber, fits a blind and carries without catching on everything. For the ranges most .30-06 game is actually shot at, the trade is a good one.

The Beretta BRX1 30-06 Black is threaded at the muzzle, so a brake fits directly if you want the recoil tamed. Cartridge dimensions and maximum pressures are published by SAAMI, and a suppressor is an NFA item requiring ATF approval before transfer, which MAG5 Firearms does not deal in.

One action, several calibres

Barrels and bolt heads on the BRX1 are user-changeable. The Beretta BRX1 30-06 Black can become a .308, a 6.5 Creedmoor or a .243 without buying another action, stock or trigger, which is worth costing out against a second rifle.

Bolt heads change with the barrel where the case head diameter differs. The .30-06 and .308 share a case head, so those two swap with the barrel alone.

Scope mounting

The rail is machined into the receiver, so standard Picatinny rings go straight on with no base to work loose under recoil. Keep the rings low; a straight-pull is only fast if your cheek stays on the stock through the cycle.

Why this rifle earns its place

• A straight-pull action behind the most versatile hunting cartridge in North America
• The Beretta BRX1 30-06 Black cycles without lifting your head off the stock
• User-changeable barrels and bolt heads, so one action covers several calibres
• A receiver-integral rail, which holds zero better than any bolted base
• A 20-inch barrel that makes a full-power cartridge genuinely carryable

The Beretta BRX1 30-06 Black suits a hunter who wants one rifle for everything from whitetail to elk. The same rifle is offered with an OD Green stock, and the action is also available in .308 Winchester and 300 Winchester Magnum.
