Description
The Beretta 80X Cheetah Tactical in 380 ACP, part number J80XTACLED15, is the fifteen round version of the steel framed Cheetah. The barrel is 4.40 inches and threaded, the slide is optic ready and serrated, the frame is steel with a Picatinny rail, and the finish is the black and bronze two tone with Vertec grips. Fifteen rounds of 380 in a single stack frame is an unusual number. Most guns in this chambering hold six or seven, and the ones that hold more are usually double stack polymer pistols with a much thicker grip.
The action is the locked breech tilt barrel Beretta introduced with the 80X rather than the fixed barrel blowback of the old 84 series, so the slide racks easily and the gun is notably gentler than a blowback 380 of the same size.
Fifteen rounds, and a steel frame under them
A steel frame turns a mild cartridge into an almost recoilless one. Combined with fifteen rounds on tap, this is about as easy as a centrefire pistol gets to shoot quickly and accurately.
The weight is deliberate. This is a range and home defence gun that can be carried rather than a pocket pistol, and most buyers choose it knowing that.
The 4.40 inch barrel gets more velocity out of a cartridge with little margin, and it lengthens the sight radius on a gun that is easy to shoot fast.
If your state caps magazines at ten, the ten round version of exactly this gun is listed separately.
The threaded barrel and the optic cut
The barrel is threaded from the factory with a protector fitted, so a muzzle device mounts without gunsmithing.
We do not sell suppressors or any other NFA item. A can is bought separately through an NFA dealer and requires ATF approval before you can take possession of it.
The slide is cut for a micro red dot at the factory, so no machining and no voided warranty. On a gun this calm you will actually see the dot lift and settle between shots.
The dust cover rail takes a light, which matters far more on a home gun than on a carry gun.

Cartridge dimensions and pressures are standardized by SAAMI. For practice we stock 95 grain 380 ACP full metal jacket, and for defensive use 95 grain jacketed hollow point. Run at least a box of your chosen defensive load through the gun before you rely on it, since 380 hollow points vary more in feeding reliability than any other common pistol cartridge. Shooters in capacity limited states should buy the 10 round Tactical, and the lighter aluminium framed guns are the gray 13 round and black 13 round builds.
Every handgun we sell ships to a licensed FFL for transfer.
Why it is worth considering
- Fifteen rounds of 380 in a grip that is still narrow enough to hold properly.
- A steel frame, which makes an already mild cartridge almost recoilless.
- A 4.40 inch threaded barrel with a factory thread protector.
- A factory optic cut, so a micro red dot goes on without machining.
- A dust cover rail, which suits a gun that will spend time by a bed.
Who it suits
This suits a shooter who wants a soft shooting, high capacity centrefire pistol for the range or the nightstand and does not mind carrying steel. Anyone whose first priority is concealment should look at the aluminium framed Cheetahs, and anyone in a ten round state should buy the 10 round build. Every handgun we sell ships to a licensed FFL for transfer.
