Description
The Barnes VOR-TX LR 30-06 Sprg 175gr LRX BT takes the most widely owned centerfire cartridge in America and gives it a bullet built for distance. An all copper LRX leaves the muzzle at roughly 2800 fps carrying about 3046 ft-lbs of energy, behind a 0.508 G1 ballistic coefficient. There is no magnum recoil, no burned out barrel and no ammunition hunt, just a better bullet in a rifle you probably already own. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Barnes VOR-TX LR 30-06 Sprg 175gr LRX BT Overview
The LRX is the long range member of the Barnes copper family, and the difference from a TTSX is functional. The hollow cavity beneath the polymer tip is deeper and shaped to open at considerably lower impact velocities, down around 1600 fps rather than the 2000 or so a standard copper hunting bullet requires.
That matters more in a 30-06 than in a magnum. A cartridge with moderate muzzle velocity reaches the point where an ordinary copper bullet stops expanding much sooner, and the LRX design is what pushes that boundary back out to a useful distance.
175 Grain LRX Boat Tail Performance
At 175 grains this is heavier than the 150 and 165 grain loads most 30-06 shooters default to, and the weight is doing real work. A longer bullet with a boat tail and a secant nose carries a 0.508 ballistic coefficient, which is very good for a 30 caliber hunting bullet and translates directly into less wind drift at distance.
Barnes machines relief grooves into the bearing surface of the Barnes VOR-TX LR 30-06 Sprg 175gr LRX projectile. The grooves reduce bore contact, lowering pressure and cutting copper fouling, which helps a long solid bullet group well out of an ordinary hunting rifle.
Why Hunters Choose 30-06 Springfield Long Range Ammo
The 30-06 Springfield has been the American standard since 1906, and the case for it has not weakened. It handles everything from antelope to moose, rifles chambered for it are everywhere, recoil is manageable, and barrel life runs into the thousands of rounds rather than the hundreds.
What this 30-06 Springfield long range ammo does is close most of the practical gap to a magnum without any of the costs. You give up perhaps 200 fps to a 300 Winchester Magnum, and in exchange you keep your barrel, your shoulder and your ammunition budget. For the great majority of hunting, that is the better trade.
Be realistic about where the limit sits. The bullet stays above its expansion threshold to roughly 600 yards from a full length barrel, which is farther than most people can shoot well at an animal in field conditions.

Range Notes For This Polymer Tipped Copper Bullet
A polymer tipped copper bullet normally prints to a different point of impact than the lead core ammunition your rifle was probably sighted in with. Zero with this exact load, foul a clean barrel with a round or two first, then leave the scope alone.
Twist rate deserves a look because 175 grains of copper is a long bullet. Most 30-06 barrels run 1 in 10, which handles it without difficulty. If your rifle is unusual, confirm with a group at your longest expected distance rather than at 100 yards.
Chronograph your rifle if you intend to shoot past 400 yards. Published velocity comes from a test barrel, and a 22 inch sporter will typically run slower. Knowing your own number is what makes the Barnes VOR-TX LR 30-06 Sprg 175gr LRX useful at distance rather than merely optimistic.
