Description
The Arsenal SAM7SF-84E is a Bulgarian-built Kalashnikov in 7.62x39mm that takes the two things shooters most often wish for in an AK — a receiver that does not flex and a stock that folds without rattling — and delivers both from the factory. The receiver, bolt, bolt carrier and enhanced fire control group are all hot-die hammer forged in Arsenal’s Bulgarian plant, and the 16.3 inch barrel is cold hammer forged on Steyr manufacturing equipment with a hard-chrome plated bore and chamber.
Forged and Milled, Not Stamped
Every load-bearing part of this rifle starts as a forging. The receiver is hot-die hammer forged and then CNC milled to final dimension, which means the front and rear trunnions are part of the receiver rather than riveted into a sheet-steel shell. There is no rivet to loosen and no flex under recoil. The scope rail is machined into the receiver wall for the same reason, so an optic mounted on it returns to zero after removal and after a field strip.
The cost of that construction is weight — the Arsenal SAM7SF-84E is heavier than a stamped AK of the same barrel length — and the benefit is a rifle that shoots flatter, tracks better between shots and holds its accuracy over a service life measured in tens of thousands of rounds.

This configuration ships with a single 10-round magazine, which makes it straightforward to transfer in states that restrict magazine capacity. Standard AK-pattern magazines fit, so capacity can be changed where local law allows. Keep in mind that 922(r) compliance depends on the count of imported parts fitted, so check before swapping furniture or magazines for foreign-made components.
Why it is worth considering
- Hot-die hammer-forged and CNC-milled receiver, not stamped sheet steel
- Cold hammer-forged 16.3 inch barrel with hard-chrome bore and chamber
- Enhanced fire control group that removes the classic AK trigger slap
- Right-side folding stock that can be fired folded
- Ambidextrous safety lever fitted from the factory
- Receiver-machined scope rail that holds zero through disassembly
Who it suits
The Arsenal SAM7SF-84E suits the shooter who has already owned a stamped AK and wants to stop compensating for one. It is the rifle to buy when the goal is a Kalashnikov that will be shot heavily for decades rather than kept as a curiosity, and the folding stock makes it far easier to store and transport than a fixed-stock rifle of the same barrel length.

Ammunition, Optics and Transfer
The 7.62×39 cartridge remains one of the least expensive centerfire rifle rounds available, and the hard-chrome bore of the Arsenal SAM7SF-84E handles steel-case ammunition without complaint. Brass-case loads in the 123-grain range will produce the tightest groups, while bulk steel-case practice ammunition is entirely suitable for volume shooting. Run a brush through the bore after any corrosive surplus and the barrel will last as long as the rifle. Full model specifications are published by the manufacturer at Arsenal Inc.
For optics, the machined side rail accepts standard Warsaw-pattern quick-detach mounts, including Arsenal’s own SM-13. Because the rail is part of the receiver forging rather than attached to the dust cover, a red dot or low-power variable holds zero through cleaning cycles and through folding the stock.
