Description
The Arsenal SAM7K is a milled-receiver AK pistol in 7.62×39, built in Bulgaria on a hot-die hammer forged receiver. An 8.5-inch threaded barrel and a rear Picatinny rail make it one of the few AK pistols that arrives ready for both a muzzle device and a rear attachment without any modification. Capacity is 30+1 with the supplied Arsenal Circle 10 magazine.
Milled Receiver, Pistol Length
Receiver milled from a hot-die hammer forged blank rather than stamped from sheet, which is what separates the Arsenal SAM7K from most AK pistols on the market.
8.5-inch barrel with a threaded front sight block, so a muzzle device fits without gunsmithing.
Rear Picatinny rail on the receiver end for a rear attachment.
Black aluminum forged and milled receiver with black polymer handguards and grips.
What Ships With It

The rear Picatinny rail is the detail that makes this model worth its price over a standard AK pistol. On most AK pistols the rear of the receiver is a blank wall, and fitting anything there means replacing the rear trunnion or living with a bolt-on adapter. Arsenal machines the rail into the gun, which means a brace or other rear attachment mounts solidly to the receiver itself rather than to a clamp.
Why it is worth considering
- Milled Bulgarian receiver rather than a stamped build.
- Threaded front sight block for a muzzle device.
- Rear Picatinny rail machined into the receiver.
- Arsenal Circle 10 magazine included rather than a steel surplus one.
- Full accessory kit: sling swivel, cleaning rod, oil bottle and cleaning kit.
Who it suits
Shooters who want a compact 7.62×39 with genuine Bulgarian milled-receiver quality are the natural buyers. Note that this is a pistol, not a short-barreled rifle: fitting a shoulder stock to an 8.5-inch barrel would create an SBR requiring ATF approval, and MAG5 Firearms does not sell NFA items. The rear rail accepts a brace if that is the configuration you want.

Ammunition and the Rest of the Range
7.62×39 is inexpensive and widely available, and an 8.5-inch barrel gives up velocity but keeps the cartridge effective at the distances a pistol like this is used at. Expect considerably more muzzle blast than a 16-inch rifle produces. Browse the rest of the Arsenal range, including the SAM5 in 5.56, or the wider firearms catalog. Arsenal publishes model details at Arsenal, Inc.
The left-side scope rail is the standard AK pattern and takes the usual side-mount optic bases. On a short-barreled AK a non-magnified red dot is the practical choice, and mounting it to the receiver rail rather than the dust cover means zero survives cleaning.
All firearm orders ship to a licensed FFL dealer for transfer, and MAG5 Firearms will coordinate the paperwork with the dealer of your choice. Note that 922(r) compliance depends on the parts fitted; swapping US-made furniture for imported parts can change the count.
A note on the Circle 10 magazine: Arsenal’s Bulgarian polymer magazines are the ones AK shooters buy when they stop experimenting. They are lighter than steel, do not dent, and the feed lips hold their geometry far better than the cheap polymer alternatives. Having one in the box rather than a surplus steel magazine is a meaningful part of what you are paying for here.
