Description
The Apollo Custom Glock 42 pairs a genuine Glock 42 with a rainbow satin PVD slide over the standard matte black frame. The underlying pistol is unchanged: a 3.25-inch barrel, 6+1 rounds of .380 Auto, Safe Action trigger and the Glock reliability the platform is bought for. The finish is applied to the slide only, which keeps the frame texture exactly as Glock intended it.
The Finish
Rainbow satin PVD on the slide, a physical vapor deposition process rather than a paint or a wrap.
PVD bonds at the molecular level and is harder than the steel beneath it, so the Apollo Custom Glock 42 holds its color through holster wear far better than a coated finish would.
Matte black polymer frame in standard Glock finish, with the factory grip texture untouched.
The color shifts with the viewing angle, which is a property of the deposition layers rather than a printed pattern.
The Pistol Underneath
3.25-inch barrel, overall length 5.98 inches, which is what makes the 42 the easiest Glock to conceal.
Six-round magazine giving 6+1 capacity in .380 Auto.
White dot front sight and a white outline rear, the standard Glock arrangement.
Safe Action trigger with the usual three passive safeties.
Made in the USA. Cleaning rod and brush included. Model ACG-79357.

It is worth knowing what PVD is, because it is the difference between this and a Cerakote gun. Physical vapor deposition takes place in a vacuum chamber, where the coating material is vaporized and deposited onto the slide atom by atom. The resulting layer is measured in microns, harder than the steel underneath, and chemically bonded rather than sitting on the surface. That is why PVD survives holster wear in a way sprayed finishes do not, and why the color comes from interference in the layers instead of from pigment.
Why it is worth considering
- Genuine Glock 42, not a clone or a rebuild.
- PVD slide finish rather than a sprayed coating.
- Smallest Glock in the lineup and the easiest to conceal.
- Standard Glock sights, magazines and holsters all fit.
- Made in the United States.
Who it suits
Shooters who want a carry pistol that does not look like every other black polymer gun are the obvious buyers, and .380 Auto out of a 42 is genuinely pleasant to shoot for a pistol this small. Because it is a standard Glock 42 underneath, every holster, magazine and sight made for the model fits. Bear in mind that six rounds is modest capacity; if that matters more than size, a 43X carries more in a package only slightly larger.

Carrying and Feeding It
.380 Auto out of a 3.25-inch barrel is a compromise, and it is worth choosing ammunition deliberately. 95-grain brass-cased full metal jacket is the practice load, and a 95-grain jacketed hollow point designed to expand at .380 velocities is the defensive choice. Avoid loads designed for longer barrels, which may not open reliably from a pistol this size. Browse the rest of the Apollo Custom range or the wider handgun catalog. Apollo Custom finishes are documented at Apollo Custom.
Because the frame is a standard Glock 42 frame, every holster cut for the model fits, and the magazines are ordinary Glock 42 magazines. That is a real advantage over a boutique carry pistol: parts, holsters and magazines are available everywhere and cost what Glock parts cost.
