Description

The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus RMSc Cut is the version of the 4.25 inch Romulus whose slide is machined directly for a Shield RMSc footprint optic rather than using an adapter plate. It is otherwise the familiar package: a bull ramped barrel, SUS416 stainless frame and slide in polished DLC, ambidextrous controls and an accessory rail. Part number AA39X1CMD-PDBK19, UPC 810100533885.

Direct cut versus adapter plate

Alpha Foxtrot sells this AF1911 Romulus polished DLC pistol two ways, and the difference is worth understanding because it is the main reason to choose one over the other. The MOS models use an adapter plate that sits between the optic and the slide, letting one gun accept several optic footprints. This direct milled optic cut 2011 skips the plate: the RMSc pattern is machined into the slide itself.

The advantage of the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus RMSc Cut is mechanical. Every plate is an extra interface with its own screws, and plate screws working loose under recoil is the most common way a pistol optic goes wrong. Mounting straight to the slide removes that failure point, and it sits the optic lower, which usually means better co-witness with the irons.

The cost is flexibility. The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus RMSc Cut takes RMSc footprint optics and nothing else without gunsmithing, so you are committing to that pattern. That is less limiting than it sounds, since the RMSc footprint covers the Holosun 507K and EPS Carry, the Shield RMSc itself and a good number of others, but if you already own a full size RMR it will not fit.

The rest of the pistol

Underneath the optic cut, the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus RMSc Cut is a standard 4.25 inch Romulus. The frame and slide are SUS416 stainless finished in polished DLC, which leaves the flats bright against the black and is among the harder wearing finishes you will find on a production handgun. The barrel is bull profile with a ramped chamber.

Controls on the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus RMSc Cut are fully ambidextrous, which most 1911 pattern pistols charge extra for and which matters if you are left handed or train one handed with either hand. There is an accessory rail on the dust cover and the grip is a textured polymer module with a flared magwell.

Capacity on the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus RMSc Cut is the one figure to confirm. Most dealers list this configuration as an 19+1 double stack 9mm, while some show it shipping with 17 and 20 round magazines instead. The part number suffix is not a reliable capacity indicator across this range, so call us and we will tell you what is in the case rather than have you order off a spec line.

Quote Alpha Foxtrot AA39X1CMD-PDBK19 when you order. The Romulus range spans two calibers, three barrel lengths, two finishes, four muzzle treatments and two optic mounting systems, and the part number is the only reliable way to identify a specific gun; descriptions and suffixes do not track consistently. Alpha Foxtrot publishes their lineup at Alpha Foxtrot. If you would rather have the adapter plate system so you can run an RMR, the MOS version of the same pistol is on the shelf, and the rest of our handguns are here.

Why it is worth considering

  • An optic mounted straight to the slide, with no plate and no plate screws to work loose.
  • A lower optic height, which usually improves co-witness with the iron sights.
  • Polished DLC over stainless, among the harder wearing finishes on a production handgun.
  • Fully ambidextrous controls, which most 1911 pattern pistols charge extra for.

Who it suits

The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus RMSc Cut suits someone who has already settled on an RMSc footprint optic and wants the simplest, most robust way to mount it. If you own or want a full size RMR, or you expect to change optics as you try things, buy the MOS version instead and accept the extra interface. If you are buying the optic new alongside the gun, the direct cut is the better engineering.
