Aguila 30-06 Springfield 150gr Soft Point – Reliable 20 Round Box

Description

Aguila 30-06 Springfield 150gr Soft Point is deer ammunition without the premium price tag. A 150 grain expanding bullet at 2,900 fps is the load the 30-06 built its reputation on, and it remains the most versatile factory option in a cartridge that has been killing North American game since 1906.

What Aguila 30-06 Springfield 150gr Soft Point Is

Aguila is made by Industrias Tecnos at Cuernavaca in Mexico, a plant operating since 1961 and best known in the United States for rimfire ammunition. Their centerfire rifle line is deliberately conventional: brass case, boxer primer, lead core soft point bullet, loaded to traditional velocities rather than chasing headline numbers.

That restraint is the point. A 150 grain soft point at 2,900 fps is the classic all-round 30-06 load, light enough to shoot flat inside three hundred yards and heavy enough for anything from whitetail to black bear. It expands reliably at ordinary hunting ranges without the cost of a bonded or monolithic bullet.

Cases are reloadable boxer-primed brass, so a box of Aguila 30-06 Springfield 150gr Soft Point is also twenty pieces of usable 30-06 brass once you have shot it.

Published Ballistics

Aguila publishes 2,900 fps and 2,801 ft-lbs at the muzzle, falling to 2,628 fps and 2,300 ft-lbs at 100 yards. Chattanooga Shooting Supplies lists the same 2,900 fps, and the energy figures reconcile exactly with the arithmetic for a 150 grain bullet.

Those are honest 30-06 numbers. A 22 inch barrel will give up perhaps 50 fps against the test barrel, which changes nothing you would notice on a deer inside three hundred yards.

Still carrying 2,300 foot-pounds at a hundred yards means Aguila 30-06 Springfield 150gr Soft Point has energy in hand for whitetail, mule deer, antelope, black bear and hogs at normal hunting distances.

Field Notes

A note on naming: some distributor listings describe this as an InterLock load. Aguila own packaging and product page say simply Soft Point, so that is the description used here. If the exact bullet construction matters to you, ask before ordering rather than trusting a catalog abbreviation.

150 grain is the middle of the 30-06 range and the most versatile choice. For elk or moose most hunters step up to 180 grain or a premium bonded bullet that holds together through heavy shoulder bone.

Confirm your zero with this load. Aguila 30-06 Springfield 150gr Soft Point will not necessarily group in the same place as the premium ammunition you sighted in with last year, and a rifle that gets fired twenty times a season deserves that five minute check.

Also shooting a 270? The same Aguila line covers 270 Win 130gr Soft Point. For a lead-free alternative in the same chambering, Hornady Outfitter 30-06 150gr CX is worth comparing, and 30-06 snap caps save your firing pin in the off season. Published ballistics come from Aguila Ammunition.

For deer hunters who want a proven bullet weight at a working price, Aguila 30-06 Springfield 150gr Soft Point is a sensible box to keep in the truck. MAG5 Firearms stocks it as manufacturer item 8108AG.
