Description
The AGM UNVG-RPO 3AP Night Vision Goggles (AGM item 12UR412941103111, UPC 810164390165) is a lightweight dual-tube night vision goggle with flip-up tube pods fitted with a Gen 3 auto-gated image intensifier tube with a green P43 phosphor screen, in AGM’s high-performance FOM 2000+ grade. Gen 3 gallium arsenide sensitivity and auto-gating protection are combined with the traditional green view, and a figure of merit of 2000 or more puts it well above AGM’s Level 1 tubes for resolution and signal-to-noise.
AGM UNVG-RPO 3AP Night Vision Goggles Overview
The UNVG-RPO is the lightest member of AGM’s UNVG dual-channel family at about 1.05 pounds (475 g). Two image intensifier tubes give true binocular vision with natural depth perception, and the 25mm F/1.23 multi-layer coated objective lenses give a 40 degree field of view at 1x, focusing from 0.25 meters to infinity. AGM offers the RPO only with high-performance Gen 3 auto-gated tubes.
A single AA battery in the housing runs the goggle for up to about 15 hours. The included external battery pack, worn on the back of a helmet, extends runtime substantially (AGM quotes up to about 60 hours for the RPO), and it doubles as a useful counterweight.
Image Intensifier Tube
The 3AP configuration is the part of this listing that sets it apart from other UNVG-RPO versions: a Gen 3 tube with green phosphor, in AGM’s FOM 2000+ grade. Photos show the UNVG-RPO housing.
AGM grades its tubes by resolution and image cleanliness. For the exact resolution, figure of merit and blemish specification of the tube in this unit, check the AGM datasheet or ask us before you order.
Controls and Features
Gain is set manually to match the conditions, and the pods move independently for single or dual eye use. Each tube switches off automatically when its pod is flipped up, which saves battery and avoids eye glow.
An integral infrared illuminator provides close-range light for reading maps or working with gear in total darkness. The goggle fits standard dovetail headsets and helmet mounts, and diopter adjusts from -6 to +2.
What Is Included
The box includes the goggles, a remote battery pack, a connecting cable with battery adapter, two demist shields, two sacrificial windows, a neck strap, carrying case, lens cloth, user manual and an AA battery.
Who Benefits Most
This version suits serious users who want a premium Gen 3 image with traditional green phosphor, and professionals and hunters who spend many hours under the tube each season.
Honest Limitations
Dual-tube goggles cost more than a single-tube monocular because you are buying two tubes, and the image in each eye can differ slightly in tint or brightness. A head mount or helmet mount is required for hands-free use and is sold separately.
Runtime on the internal AA cell is modest, so plan to carry the battery pack for long nights. Night vision image intensifiers are export-controlled and sold for use within the United States. Check AGM’s current warranty terms before you buy.
