Description
The AGM NVG-40 NW1 Night Vision Goggles (AGM item 14NV4122484011, UPC 810027779366) is a dual-tube night vision binocular goggle fitted with a Gen 2+ Level 1 image intensifier tube with a white P45 phosphor screen. White phosphor shows the scene in black, white and gray instead of green, which many users find more natural, with better perceived contrast in shadows and less eye fatigue on long nights. Level 1 is AGM’s value grade, so you get the white phosphor look at a Gen 2+ price.
AGM NVG-40 NW1 Night Vision Goggles Overview
The NVG-40 is a dual-channel goggle: two image intensifier tubes give true binocular vision with natural depth perception, which makes walking, driving on private land and handling gear far easier than with a single tube. It weighs about 1.42 pounds (645 g), uses 27mm F/1.3 multi-coated objective lenses with a 40 degree field of view at 1x, and focuses from 0.25 meters to infinity.
A single CR123A or AA battery runs it for up to about 20 hours. The compact composite housing is built for hard use, with about 25mm of eye relief and diopter adjustment from -6 to +2.
Image Intensifier Tube
The NW1 configuration is the part of this listing that sets it apart from other NVG-40 versions: a Gen 2+ tube with white phosphor. Note: photos show the NVG-40 housing, which is identical across tube options.
AGM grades its tubes by resolution and image cleanliness. For the exact resolution, figure of merit and blemish specification of the tube in this unit, check the AGM datasheet or ask us before you order.
Controls and Features
An integral infrared illuminator with two power levels gives light for reading or close work in total darkness. For hands-free use, the goggle works with many common mounts, including AN/PVS-7D, AN/PVS-14, AN/PVS-15 and AN/PVS-18 style mounts and mini-rail interfaces.
A preinstalled NVG interface shoe fits standard dovetail headsets and helmet mounts, and the included bayonet/horn interface shoe fits bayonet-style mounts.
What Is Included
The box includes the goggles, both interface shoes, two demist shields, two sacrificial windows, soft carrying case, lens cloth, battery adapter and user manual.
Who Benefits Most
This version suits buyers who want the white phosphor look on a Gen 2+ budget, hunters who spend long nights behind the glass, and anyone who finds green images tiring.
Honest Limitations
Two tubes cost more than one, and the image in each eye can differ slightly in tint or brightness. Runtime is shorter than single-tube devices on the same battery, so carry spares. A head or helmet mount is sold separately.
At about 1.4 pounds a counterweight helps on a helmet. Night vision image intensifiers are export-controlled and sold for use within the United States. Check AGM’s current warranty terms before you buy.
