Description

A-Zoom 44 Special Snap Caps are machined aluminum dummy rounds in 44 S&W Special, six to a pack. Six fills a cylinder, which is the number that makes revolver dry fire and reload practice into a real drill rather than a partial one.
How A-Zoom 44 Special Snap Caps Are Built
Each round is CNC machined from solid aluminum billet to the exact dimensions of a loaded cartridge and hard anodized. One piece, no separate case head, no plastic body. Nothing swells in a chamber, nothing splits, and nothing gets left behind when you hit the ejector rod.
The primer end holds a proprietary polymer cushion rather than a live primer, rated by A-Zoom past three thousand strikes. A double action hammer carries real energy, and that cushion is what keeps the firing pin from taking all of it directly.
Because A-Zoom 44 Special Snap Caps are dimensionally correct, they load from a speed loader and eject from a cylinder exactly like live ammunition. That is what separates useful practice from going through the motions.
Why a Full Cylinder Matters
Revolver skill is cylinder skill. Loading six from a speed loader or a speed strip, closing the crane, running six double action pulls and then ejecting the full cylinder is one continuous drill, and it takes six rounds to run. A pair of snap caps only tells you the hammer falls.
44 Special lives in a wide range of guns, from Smith and Wesson N frames and Ruger single actions to the five shot Charter Arms Bulldog and various lever carbines. A six pack covers a full cylinder on the big guns and leaves a spare on the small ones.

Field Notes
Timing and carry-up checks are the technical use. Cycling a loaded cylinder slowly by hand shows whether each chamber locks up in line with the barrel, and doing it with inert rounds loads the cylinder the way it is loaded in use rather than empty.
Older revolvers without a transfer bar or hammer block genuinely should not be dry fired empty, and plenty of 44 Special guns fall into that category. A-Zoom 44 Special Snap Caps are the straightforward fix.
The polymer cushion is a consumable. When the face is deeply cratered and stops rebounding, retire that round rather than continuing to strike a dead cushion.
They also make sense for lever carbine owners. A tube fed 44 Special carbine stacks rounds nose to primer, and cycling machined dummies through the carrier is the quickest way to confirm the rifle handles a given cartridge length.
Shooting other wheelguns? The line also covers 357 Magnum and 32 H&R Magnum in matching six packs. Construction details are published by A-Zoom.
For anyone who carries or shoots a 44 Special revolver, A-Zoom 44 Special Snap Caps make real dry practice possible. MAG5 Firearms stocks them as manufacturer item PA16121 in the six pack.
