Description

A-Zoom 38 Special Blue Snap Caps are machined aluminum dummy rounds in 38 Special, twelve to a pack in blue hard anodize. Twelve is two full cylinders, which is exactly what reload practice needs: one in the gun and one in the speed loader.
How A-Zoom 38 Special Blue Snap Caps Are Built
Each round is CNC machined from solid aluminum billet to the exact dimensions of a loaded cartridge and hard anodized. One piece, no separate case head, no plastic body. Nothing swells in a chamber, and nothing gets left behind when you work the ejector rod.
The primer end carries a proprietary polymer cushion in place of a live primer, rated by A-Zoom past three thousand strikes. A double action hammer swing carries real energy, and on older 38s without a transfer bar or hammer block that cushion is not optional.
The blue anodizing is a safety cue rather than decoration. A cylinder of A-Zoom 38 Special Blue Snap Caps is unmistakable at a glance, which matters when live 38 is also on the bench.
Why Twelve Rounds Beats Six
A revolver reload takes two cylinders worth of ammunition to practise properly: six in the gun and six waiting in a speed loader or a speed strip. Six snap caps let you run the trigger; twelve let you run the actual reload, which is the part that separates people who own revolvers from people who can run them.
38 Special also covers an enormous population of guns, from small frame carry revolvers and Model 10s to 357 Magnum revolvers being shot with lighter loads. A twelve pack fills a cylinder in nearly any of them and still leaves spares.

Field Notes
Instructors and clubs get the most from a twelve pack. Handing a student a speed loader of obviously inert blue dummies makes classroom reload drills genuinely safe, and nobody has to take anyone else word for whether a gun is empty.
Timing and carry-up checks are the technical use. Cycling a fully loaded cylinder slowly by hand shows whether each chamber locks up in line with the barrel under realistic weight rather than empty.
The polymer cushion is a consumable. When the face is deeply cratered and stops rebounding, retire that round rather than continuing to strike a dead cushion.
Only need one cylinder? The line is stocked as A-Zoom 38 Special Snap Caps in a six pack, and 357 Magnum is available as well. Construction details are published by A-Zoom.
For revolver instructors, competitors and anyone serious about reload speed, A-Zoom 38 Special Blue Snap Caps are the right buy. MAG5 Firearms stocks them as manufacturer item PA16318 in the twelve pack.
