Browning Citori 725 Feather Superlight Overview
The Citori 725 is the modern Citori, with a lower profile receiver than older models for better pointing. The Feather Superlight takes it a step further with an alloy receiver, a steel breech face and hinge pin, and an English style straight grip, making it one of the lightest 12 gauge over and unders you can carry all day in the uplands.
Alloy Receiver with Steel Breech Face
To save weight, Browning machines the receiver from alloy but uses a steel breech face and hinge pin where strength matters most. The receiver wears an engraved silver nitride finish that looks as good as it works.
Straight Grip and Schnabel Forearm
The Grade II/III walnut stock has a gloss oil finish, a straight English style grip and a slim Schnabel forearm. A straight grip helps your hands move quickly to the trigger and is a classic choice for a bird gun. Browning lists a 14 1/4 inch length of pull and an Inflex 2 recoil pad.
Mechanical Trigger
The 725 uses a mechanical trigger system, so the second barrel fires from the mechanism rather than from recoil of the first shot. That means a reliable second shot even with light loads.
Barrels and Chokes
The 26 inch polished blued barrels have an ivory front bead and take flush Invector-DS chokes. Browning includes Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder, a good spread for grouse, woodcock, pheasants and quail.
2 3/4 Inch Chambers and Recoil
The chambers are 2 3/4 inch, so do not use 3 inch shells. At about 6 pounds a 12 gauge kicks more than a heavier gun, so many owners shoot 1 ounce upland loads, which are plenty for most birds.
Cleaning and Care
Clean the bores and chokes after each outing and keep the choke threads lightly greased. Wipe the walnut and receiver with a lightly oiled cloth and store the gun broken down in its case.
State Laws
Shotguns are legal to buy in most places, but hunting rules vary by state and species. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
