Description
The Raging Hunter 454 6.75-inch two-tone is the length most people settle on once they have handled all three. Enough barrel that the .454 Casull is doing what it was designed to do, enough rail to mount a scope properly, and still short enough to carry in a chest rig without catching on everything.
The Raging Hunter 454 6.75 has a matte stainless frame under a black anodized ported shroud, a matte black oxide cylinder, and a black rubber grip with the red cushioned insert down the backstrap.
What the Raging Hunter 454 6.75 gives you
- The Raging Hunter 454 6.75 holds five rounds of .454 Casull, with .45 Colt chambering in the same cylinder for affordable practice
- 6.75-inch barrel, the middle of three lengths and the one that balances velocity against carrying weight
- Dual-stage gas expansion ports machined into the top of the shroud
- Full-length Picatinny rail integral to the shroud, with room to position a scope for your own eye relief
- Matte stainless frame with a matte black oxide cylinder and black shroud
- Black rubber grip with the red cushioned insert, which is the single most important recoil feature on the gun
- Adjustable rear sight and an exposed hammer for deliberate single-action shots

Choosing a barrel length in .454
- 5.12 inch: the carrying gun. Loudest, most blast, least velocity, easiest to wear all day
- 6.75 inch: the compromise, and the one that suits a scoped hunting setup without becoming unwieldy
- 8.38 inch: bench and long-range work, where the extra velocity justifies the bulk
- The Raging Hunter 454 6.75 weighs enough to make full-power Casull loads genuinely manageable
- Recoil is still severe by any normal standard. The porting and the insert reduce it; they do not remove it
- Doubled hearing protection with a ported big bore, and keep the line clear beside you

.454 Casull and .45 Colt are both standardised cartridges with chamber dimensions and pressure ceilings published by SAAMI. The pressure gap between the two is enormous, and the Casull case is longer for exactly that reason: this chamber takes either, while a .45 Colt chamber will physically refuse the Casull.
One practical point about mounting an optic. The rail on a Raging Hunter 454 6.75 is long enough that people often mount a scope too far forward and end up with a scope shadow they cannot shake. Set the gun up at arm’s length in your actual shooting position and slide the optic back until the picture is clean, rather than centring it on the rail because it looks right.
Why this revolver earns its place
- The barrel length that balances .454 Casull velocity against something you will actually carry
- A factory optics rail, which on a hunting handgun is worth more than any other single feature
- Porting and the red cushioned insert, which together make the Raging Hunter 454 6.75 shootable
- Two chamberings from one cylinder, so practice does not cost Casull money
- Stainless frame and black oxide cylinder, both of which handle wet weather better than blued steel
- Adjustable irons as a backup if an optic fails in the field
Handgun hunters, guides and anyone who spends time where a large animal might take an interest. The Raging Hunter 454 6.75 is the version of this gun we recommend most often, because it is capable enough to hunt with and portable enough to take along.
For something shorter, the 5.12-inch .454 in black is the carrying length. For more barrel, the 8.38-inch two-tone is the bench gun.
If you want a third cartridge from one cylinder, the .460 S&W at the same barrel length adds .460 on top of .454 and .45 Colt. For less recoil, the .44 Magnum is the step down, and the seven-shot .357 Magnum is the mildest gun in the family.
Every Raging Hunter we ship comes with the factory case, the manual and a lock. Transfers go to your FFL and our end of the paperwork is done the same day.
