Trijicon 30mm Q-LOC Accessory Ring Cap Overview
Trijicon part AC22078 is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a matte black anodized finish and is made in the USA. It is mil-spec drop test rated and measures just under an inch long. The cap includes four screws and a hex key, and it bolts in place of an existing cap on compatible 30mm mounts.
What It Does
Most scope ring caps are just caps. This one has three mounting locations that let you attach a red dot plate or a short Picatinny rail at the 12 o’clock position or at a 45 degree offset. That lets you run a mini red dot like an RMR on top of your scope for close-range use, or off to the side for a quick roll-over transition.
Why Offset Red Dots
On a rifle with a magnified optic, an offset red dot gives you a fast 1x option for close targets without changing magnification. Rolling the rifle a few degrees brings the dot into view. It is a popular setup for LPVO and fixed-power scopes on duty and competition rifles, and for hunters in thick cover.
Compatibility
This cap is designed for Trijicon Q-LOC and Slimline style variable power mounts with 30mm rings. It will not fit 1 inch or 34mm rings, and it is not a universal cap for other brands. Check that your mount is a compatible Trijicon design before ordering.
Installation
Remove one existing cap, install this accessory cap in its place, and tighten the screws evenly. Trijicon specifies 14 to 16 inch-pounds of torque for ring caps, so use a torque driver rather than guessing. Recheck zero after any change to your scope rings.
Honest Notes
A cap-mounted dot sits higher than a rail-mounted offset, so the height-over-bore difference is larger and close-range holds change. The cap adds a little weight on top of the scope. If you only need a dot at 12 o’clock, a dedicated scope-top mount is another option.

Your First Range Trip
Mount your optic, bore sight it, then fire your first groups at 25 yards before moving to 100. Let the barrel cool between strings, and record your zero and the load you used. Wear eye and ear protection, keep the muzzle in a safe direction, and clean the bore when you get home.
