Description
The Taurus Judge TORO Stainless is the optic-ready, matte stainless version of Taurus’s .45 Colt and .410 revolver: five rounds, a three-inch barrel, a fibre-optic front sight, and a frame cut and drilled from the factory to take a micro red dot.
The Judge has always been a close-range gun, and a red dot is the single best thing you can put on one. With .410 shot there is no need for precision, but with a .45 Colt bullet at twenty-five yards there very much is — and a dot lets the Taurus Judge TORO Stainless do both without changing how you aim.
What you are getting
- The Taurus Judge TORO Stainless has five chambers that take both .45 Colt and 2-1/2 inch .410 shotshells, in any mix you like.
- A three-inch barrel with a fibre-optic front sight and a fixed rear.
- A factory optic mount on the Taurus Judge TORO Stainless, so a micro red dot goes on without gunsmithing.
- Matte stainless barrel, cylinder and frame — the right material for a gun that will be carried in the weather.
- A ribbed black rubber grip that fills the hand, an exposed hammer and a transfer bar safety.

Read this before you buy shells
- ⚠ This is a 2-1/2 inch chamber. Do not load 3-inch .410 shells in it. Check the box every time — both lengths sit side by side on the same shelf.
- .410 out of a rifled barrel opens fast. The rifling spins the shot column and spreads it, so this is a room-distance proposition, not a twenty-yard one. Pattern it yourself at the distances you care about.
- For defensive use, a purpose-made .410 defence load with a few large pellets or discs beats birdshot by a wide margin.
- .45 Colt is the other half of the gun and the more capable half. A 250 grain bullet from the Taurus Judge TORO Stainless is a serious close-range load.
- A dot changes how the gun shoots more than any other single change. If you are buying the TORO version, budget for the optic.

.45 Colt and .410 are both standardised by SAAMI, and the chamber length on a .410 is a safety specification, not a suggestion — which is why the 2-1/2 inch marking on this revolver matters. On the .45 Colt side, stay with standard-pressure loads: the heavy +P ammunition sold for Ruger single actions is not appropriate for a Judge.
MAG5 also stocks the black Judge TORO, the 3-inch-chambered Judge TORO Magnum, the plain Judge Compact and the Judge Magnum in stainless. If you want the Magnum chamber, buy it deliberately — the two are not interchangeable.
Why the Taurus Judge TORO Stainless earns its place
- The Taurus Judge TORO Stainless has a factory optic cut, on the type of gun that benefits most from a dot.
- Two cartridges from one cylinder, loaded in whatever order suits the job.
- Stainless throughout, for a truck, boat or barn gun that will get wet.
- A fibre-optic front sight that still works if you never fit an optic.
- Five rounds, no manual of arms, nothing to forget.
This is a close-range defensive and utility revolver: a nightstand gun, a truck gun, a snake and pest gun on a property. It suits someone who wants the Judge’s flexibility and is willing to pattern it honestly rather than believe the internet about what .410 does. The Taurus Judge TORO Stainless is not a target revolver, not a hunting gun, and not a concealed-carry piece — the cylinder is too long for that.
