Description
The Browning AB3 Micro Stalker 243 Win is the Browning AB3 Micro Stalker in 243 Win, a bolt action hunting rifle with a 20 inch matte blued sporter barrel and a matte black composite stock. This listing is UPC 023614439158, Browning item 035808211. It is a short action rifle that weighs about 6 lb 8 oz, measures 39 3/8 in. overall and holds 4 rounds in a detachable double stack box magazine.
Browning AB3 Micro Stalker 243 Win Overview
The AB3 is the Browning answer to hunters who want a dependable, accurate bolt gun at a working price. It shares design ideas with the X-Bolt, including a 60 degree bolt lift and a top tang safety, without the premium features that drive up cost. The Micro Stalker shortens the stock and barrel so younger and smaller shooters get a rifle that fits.
60 Degree Bolt Lift
The short 60 degree bolt lift cycles quickly and lets your hand clear large scope turrets. Browning also uses a large bolt surface area for strength and smooth feeding.
Free Floating Barrel
The 20 inch sporter barrel is free floated, so the stock does not touch it and shift your point of impact as the weather changes. It has a 1:10 twist.
Top Tang Safety and Bolt Lock Override
The top tang safety is easy to reach with your thumb, and the bolt lock override button lets you work the bolt to unload the rifle with the safety on.
Compact Composite Stock
The Micro Stalker stock has a 13 inch length of pull and a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, which makes it a great first deer rifle for a young or small framed hunter. Spacers or a longer stock can be added as they grow.
Detachable Box Magazine
The detachable double stack box magazine holds 4 rounds and makes loading and unloading quick and safe. Spare magazines are available from Browning.
Who the AB3 Fits
The AB3 is a good fit for a first deer rifle, a truck gun or a backup rifle for a hunting camp. It gives up some of the refinements of the X-Bolt, such as the adjustable Feather Trigger and integrated scope mounts, but it keeps the things that matter most for filling a tag: a free floated barrel, a smooth bolt and a reliable detachable magazine. Pair it with a quality scope and good factory ammunition and most owners find it shoots well past typical whitetail distances.
The 243 Win Cartridge
The .243 Winchester is a light recoiling, flat shooting round that is ideal for deer, pronghorn and varmints, and it is a great first rifle cartridge for young or recoil sensitive hunters.
Mounting a Scope
The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases. Make sure any bases or rings you buy list the AB3.
State Laws
Bolt action rifles are legal in most places, but hunting rules on calibers and seasons vary. Check your state game laws. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
