Description
The Browning AB3 OD Green Tungsten 243 Win is a bolt action hunting rifle with a 22 inch sporter barrel, a radial muzzle brake, Tungsten Cerakote on the barrel and action, and an OD Green composite stock. This listing is UPC 023614864257, Browning item 035842211. It is a short action rifle that weighs about 6 lb 9 oz, measures 42 inches overall and holds 4 rounds in a detachable box magazine.
Browning AB3 OD Green Tungsten 243 Win Overview
The AB3 is the Browning answer to hunters who want a reliable, accurate bolt gun without paying X-Bolt prices. This version was a Browning SHOT Show special for 2025 and upgrades the standard AB3 with a tough Tungsten Cerakote finish, an OD Green stock and a factory muzzle brake.
Tungsten Cerakote Finish
Tungsten Cerakote covers the barrel and receiver. It is a ceramic based coating that resists rust, scratches and solvents far better than bluing, which is a real advantage on a rifle that rides in a truck or gets carried in the rain.
22 Inch Barrel and Brake
The 22 inch steel sporter barrel has a 1:10 twist, the standard rate for 243 Win hunting bullets. A radial muzzle brake is installed on M13 x 0.75 threads. The 243 is already mild, so the brake makes this rifle very soft shooting, but brakes are loud, so always wear hearing protection.
OD Green Composite Stock
The composite stock has textured grip panels and an Inflex 1 recoil pad. Browning lists a 13 5/8 inch length of pull, which suits most adults and many younger or smaller shooters.
Detachable Box Magazine
The AB3 feeds from a 4 round detachable box magazine. Spare magazines are sold by Browning, and the rifle is drilled and tapped for scope mounts.
The 243 Win Cartridge
The .243 Winchester is a light recoiling, flat shooting round that is ideal for deer, pronghorn and varmints, and it is a great first rifle cartridge for young or recoil sensitive hunters.
Mounting a Scope
The receiver is drilled and tapped. Browning sells integrated scope mounts made for the AB3; make sure any rings or bases you buy list the AB3.
Cleaning and Care
Clean the bore after each range session and remove the brake occasionally to clean the threads. Wipe the rifle down after a wet hunt.
State Laws
Bolt action rifles are legal in most places, but hunting rules on calibers and seasons vary. Check your state game laws. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
