Description
The Savage Renegauge Field 12 Gauge 28-Inch is a gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun with a 28-inch fluted barrel, a 3-inch chamber, a gray synthetic stock with adjustable drop and cast, and a 4+1 capacity. It weighs about 8 lbs and is built to cycle reliably and shoot softly through long days in the field.
Savage Renegauge Field 12 Gauge 28-Inch Overview
Savage designed the Renegauge from the ground up to be a soft-shooting, utterly reliable semi-auto that fits the shooter, not the other way around. It handles everything from light target loads to 3-inch magnum shells, making it a true all-around shotgun for upland birds, waterfowl, turkeys, and clay targets.
Gas System and Reliability
The D.R.I.V. gas system vents excess gas from heavy loads to keep recoil down and protect the action, while still cycling lighter shells reliably. A one-piece, chrome-plated action bar assembly and chrome-plated reciprocating components resist fouling and wear, so the gun keeps running through long days in the field.
Fluted Barrel and Rib
The 28-inch fluted barrel has a durable Melonite finish that resists rust and corrosion in wet weather. A carbon steel ventilated rib with a red fiber-optic front sight helps your eye pick up the bead quickly on fast-flushing birds and crossing targets.
Adjustable Fit
The gray synthetic stock lets you adjust drop and cast with included shims, and length of pull adjusts from about 14.25 to 15 inches with spacers, so the gun points where you look. A stock rod buffer reduces felt recoil for more comfortable shooting.
Controls and Loading
Oversized controls are easy to operate with gloves, and a competition-ready loading port makes it fast and easy to top off the tube between shots or at the next station.
Chokes Included
The shotgun ships with Extended Turkey, Full, Improved Cylinder, and Modified choke tubes in the Beretta/Benelli Mobil pattern, so you can set it up for turkeys, waterfowl, upland birds, or clays right out of the box.
In the Field
Pattern your Renegauge with the loads and chokes you plan to hunt with, and you will know exactly how it performs at the ranges you expect. Its soft recoil and reliable cycling make it easy to stay on target for quick follow-up shots on doubles and late-season ducks.
Care and Cleaning
Keep the Savage Renegauge Field 12 Gauge 28-Inch running smoothly by wiping down the action bar and gas system after a few hundred rounds, cleaning the bore and chokes, and applying a light coat of oil to exposed metal. Store the shotgun in a dry place and check that the choke tube is snug before each outing.
