Description

A-Zoom 303 British Snap Caps are machined aluminum dummy rounds cut to 303 British dimensions, two to a pack. Nearly every rifle chambered for this cartridge is a Lee-Enfield or a sporterised one, and those rifles are old enough that replacement striker parts are a scavenger hunt rather than an order.
How A-Zoom 303 British Snap Caps Are Built
Each round is CNC machined from solid aluminum billet to full cartridge dimensions and hard anodized red. One piece, no separate case head, no plastic body. Nothing can shear off and leave a case body in the chamber, which is a bad outcome in a rifle whose bolt you may not want to strip on a range bench.
The primer end carries a proprietary polymer cushion instead of a live primer, rated by A-Zoom past three thousand strikes. The Lee-Enfield uses a long striker under a heavy spring, and that cushion is what keeps it from taking the full stop every time.
The red anodizing makes A-Zoom 303 British Snap Caps obviously inert. That is genuinely helpful when surplus 303 with corrosive primers is also in the room and you would rather not confuse the two.
Why Rimmed Cartridges Need Dummy Rounds
303 British is rimmed, and rimmed cartridges have to be stacked with the rims in the correct order or the rifle jams. That is the single most common Lee-Enfield complaint from new owners, and it is a loading technique problem rather than a rifle problem. Practising the stack with A-Zoom 303 British Snap Caps is the cheapest way to learn it.
The ten round magazine and the stripper clip charging system both reward practice as well. Running clips into a rifle smoothly is a learned motion, and doing it with inert rounds means you can repeat it all evening with nothing live present.
Collectors get a quieter benefit. Working the action on a rifle you would rather not shoot much confirms everything still functions, and doing it on a machined dummy adds no chamber wear and no residue to a gun that gets cleaned rarely.

Field Notes
Surplus parts scarcity is the strongest argument. Lee-Enfield strikers, cocking pieces and mainsprings are all finite supplies now, and A-Zoom 303 British Snap Caps cost a fraction of chasing a replacement across the internet.
They are also the right tool for teaching the rifle. The Enfield magazine cutoff, the cock-on-closing bolt and the rim-over-rim loading order all make more sense when a new owner can work through them with something in the magazine.
The polymer cushion is a consumable. When the face is deeply cratered and no longer rebounds, retire that round rather than continuing to strike a dead cushion.
Working on other surplus rifles? The line also covers 7.62x54R and 7.7×58 Jap. Construction details are published by A-Zoom.
For Lee-Enfield owners and collectors of surplus rifles, A-Zoom 303 British Snap Caps are cheap insurance on parts that are no longer made. MAG5 Firearms stocks them as manufacturer item PA12226 in the two pack.
