Description

A-Zoom 28 Gauge Snap Caps are solid aluminum dummy shells in 28 gauge, two to a pack. The twenty-eight is a small bore built into fine guns, and fine guns are exactly the ones you should not be snapping on empty chambers.
How A-Zoom 28 Gauge Snap Caps Are Built
Each shell is CNC machined from solid aluminum billet to 28 gauge dimensions and hard anodized. No plastic hull, no crimped end, nothing that swells or splits after repeated cycling through an action.
The rim end carries a proprietary polymer cushion in place of a primer, rated by A-Zoom past three thousand strikes. Light frame doubles and over-unders use delicate rebounding pins, and that cushion is the difference between letting the hammers down and slowly destroying them.
Because A-Zoom 28 Gauge Snap Caps are dimensionally correct, they chamber and extract like real shells rather than sitting loose and telling you nothing about how the gun actually handles ammunition.
Where Two Shells Earn Their Keep
Twenty-eight gauge guns are mostly clays guns and upland guns, and both categories are worked hard between shots. Snapping the action closed, letting the hammers down and opening it again dozens of times a day is normal handling, and doing it on A-Zoom 28 Gauge Snap Caps rather than empty chambers is simply what the manual asks for.
Ejector timing is the second job. On a good double, confirming that both ejectors are throwing shells cleanly and in sync is much easier to see with inert shells you can pick up and reuse than with live ammunition.
Storage is the quiet third use. Leaving the hammers down on snap caps rather than cocked keeps the springs relaxed through an off season, which on a gun with hand-fitted locks is worth doing properly.

Field Notes
Fine guns are the strongest argument. A twenty-eight gauge over-under or side-by-side often represents real money, and A-Zoom 28 Gauge Snap Caps cost almost nothing against a firing pin replacement on a gun like that.
They are also the right tool for mount and swing practice. Rehearsing the whole motion through the trigger press with an inert shell chambered builds the habit properly, and a twenty-eight is usually carried because it points so well.
The polymer cushion is a consumable. When the face is deeply cratered and stops rebounding, retire that shell rather than continuing to strike a dead cushion.
Shooting other gauges? The line covers 20 gauge, 12 gauge and 410 bore. Construction details are published by A-Zoom.
For skeet shooters, upland hunters and anyone protecting a fine twenty-eight, A-Zoom 28 Gauge Snap Caps are the sensible buy. MAG5 Firearms stocks them as manufacturer item PA12214 in the two pack.
