Hornady 45 Colt 225gr FTX – Proven .45 Colt Lever Action Hunting Ammo, 960 fps, 20 Rounds

Description

The Hornady 45 Colt 225gr FTX load is built for shooters who want more from their .45 Colt than typical factory ammunition delivers. Hornady loads a 225 grain FTX Flex Tip to a rated 960 feet per second, producing about 461 foot-pounds of energy. LEVERevolution ammunition uses a soft, flexible Flex Tip that is safe in tubular magazines, allowing a pointed, high ballistic coefficient bullet in lever-action rifles. The result is a flatter trajectory and more energy downrange than traditional flat-nose loads.

Why Choose the Hornady 45 Colt 225gr FTX

• 225 grain FTX Flex Tip bullet
• Rated 960 fps and 461 ft-lbs

Built for the Hunt

• Accurate, consistent hunting performance
• Reliable feeding in bolt-action and semi-automatic rifles
• Quality brass cases and reliable primers
• Suited to a wide range of game at typical distances

Buying ammunition by the box from the same production lot keeps velocity and point of impact consistent from one range trip to the next. Keep a record of the load you carry, check your ammunition for dents or loose bullets from time to time, and rotate your carry rounds so the ones in your firearm stay fresh. These simple habits help you get the full performance Hornady builds into every cartridge.

Before you trust any new load, fire enough rounds through your firearm to confirm it feeds, fires and ejects reliably and that the point of impact matches your sights. Full-power loads produce more recoil and muzzle blast than typical range ammo, so practice with the Hornady 45 Colt 225gr FTX until you are comfortable with it, and store the rest in a cool, dry place in the original box.

About the .45 Colt

The .45 Colt dates to 1873 and remains one of the most versatile big-bore cartridges available. Chambered in classic single-action revolvers, modern double-action revolvers and lever-action rifles, it launches heavy, large-diameter bullets at moderate velocities for deep penetration and a broad wound channel. From a lever gun it is a capable short-range deer and hog cartridge, and many shooters value it for handling mild cowboy loads and full-power hunting loads in the same firearm.
