Description
This is the Judge Laser 2.5 Inch chamber version: the compact Judge with a Viridian laser built into the grip, chambered for 2-1/2 inch .410 shells and .45 Colt. The laser is part of the grip rather than an accessory bolted to a rail, so nothing hangs off the frame and a standard Judge holster still fits.
The Judge Laser 2.5 Inch has five chambers, a 3-inch matte black barrel, a fibre-optic front sight and an exposed hammer. The barrel is stamped 4510, which is how you confirm the chamber length on any Judge.
What the Judge Laser 2.5 Inch gives you
- The Judge Laser 2.5 Inch has the Viridian unit integrated into the grip, with the activation switch under the firing hand
- Five chambers taking .45 Colt cartridges or 2-1/2 inch .410 shotshells
- 3-inch matte black alloy steel barrel, rifled, with a fibre-optic front sight
- Nothing protruding from the frame, so holsters cut for a standard Judge still work
- Transfer bar safety and an exposed hammer for a deliberate single-action shot
- Matte black throughout, with no bright work to catch light
- The laser makes the Judge Laser 2.5 Inch usable from positions where you cannot get the sights up

Read this before you buy shells
- This cylinder is chambered for 2-1/2 inch .410 only. Do not attempt to load 3-inch magnum shells
- The barrel stamp reads 4510, which is the short-chamber marking. Taurus also makes a 3-inch chamber version of this same gun
- If you specifically want 3-inch shells, buy the magnum-chamber Judge Laser instead and we will point you to it
- The barrel is rifled, which spins a shot charge outward and opens patterns faster than a smoothbore would
- Buckshot loads made for the Judge pattern far better than birdshot, which is a snake and pest load
- Stick to standard-pressure .45 Colt. Heavy “Ruger only” loads are built for far stronger guns

.45 Colt dates to 1873 and .410 bore predates most shotgun gauges in use today. Both are standardised, with dimensions and pressures published by SAAMI, and the shared case diameter is what lets one cylinder take both.
Two practical notes on the laser. Zero it at the distance you expect to use it, which for a defensive revolver means about seven yards rather than twenty-five. And replace the battery on a schedule rather than when you remember: write the date on the box the day you buy it. A Judge Laser 2.5 Inch with a dead battery is simply a Judge, which is fine, but you should know which one you are carrying.
Why this revolver earns its place
- A laser that is part of the gun rather than an accessory hanging off it
- Two entirely different ammunition types from one cylinder
- The Judge Laser 2.5 Inch needs no manual of arms: point, press, repeat
- Compact enough for a nightstand drawer or a truck console
- A fibre-optic front sight that works in the low light this gun is meant for
- Revolver reliability, with no magazine and no slide to fumble
Home defenders, people who want a nightstand gun that works half asleep, and anyone who finds iron sights hard to pick up in poor light. The Judge Laser 2.5 Inch is a close-range specialist and inside that range it is very effective.
If you want 3-inch shells, the magnum-chamber Judge with the same Viridian grip is the one to buy. Without a laser, the Judge Compact and the black 3-inch Judge are the plain versions.
For a factory optic cut, the Judge TORO takes a red dot. For pocket size, the Public Defender carries the same cylinder in a much smaller frame. And at the other extreme, the Judge Home Defender puts it behind a 13-inch barrel.
Every Taurus Judge ships with the factory case, the manual and a lock. Transfers go to your FFL and our end of the paperwork is done the same day.
