FMK G3 Strike 9mm Dark Grey Overview
Most budget pistols leave you to buy and install the optic, the comp and taller sights yourself. The Strike package bundles all three, so it is ready for the range once you zero the dot. It is built on the G3 platform, which uses FMK’s compact frame with a rubberized backstrap, a beveled magazine well, a Picatinny accessory rail and an upgraded metal slide stop. The 804 Elite Fast Action trigger gives a short, light pull and quick reset, and the dark grey frame contrasts nicely with the black slide.
Optic and Sights
The optic-ready slide is cut to accept common footprints directly, with no adapter plates, including Burris FastFire 3, Vortex Venom and Viper, and Trijicon RMR. That keeps the dot low and reduces the number of screws that can loosen. The included SI Seeker red dot is a budget-class optic; it is fine for range and practice use, but many owners who carry the gun upgrade to a proven duty optic later. The suppressor-height sights co-witness through the window, giving you a backup if the battery dies.
Compensator and Threaded Barrel
The polished stainless 4.5-inch barrel is threaded at the muzzle and wears a compensator that vents gas upward to reduce muzzle rise. The trade-off is more noise and blast to the sides and a little more fouling on the slide and optic glass, which you will notice at an indoor range. The comp can be removed to fit a suppressor; a suppressor is an NFA item that requires an approved ATF Form 4 and tax stamp, and suppressors are illegal in some states.
Size and Carry
The comp and longer barrel make the Strike longer than a standard 3.87-inch G2 or G3, and the red dot adds height, so it is more of a range, competition or home-defense pistol than a deep-concealment gun. Holsters must be cut for a red dot and a compensated, threaded barrel, and very few makers offer them for the FMK frame, so check availability before planning to carry it. A light on the Picatinny rail further limits holster choices.
Magazines and Capacity
FMK includes both a 14-round and a 17-round magazine, giving 15 or 18 rounds with one in the chamber. Magazines drop free, and only FMK magazines fit. The pistol has no magazine disconnect, so it can fire with the magazine removed. Standard 115- and 124-grain 9mm works well; a comp typically runs best with full-power loads, so test light target ammunition before relying on it.
Value and Warranty
At around a $500 street price, the Strike costs less than buying many popular compacts and then adding an optic, comp and tall sights separately. FMK supports its pistols with a lifetime warranty for the original owner. Resale value and accessory support are weaker than for mainstream brands, and the bundled optic is entry-level, so judge the package on what you will actually use.
State Laws and Ownership
Because it ships with a 17-round magazine and a threaded barrel, distributors list the Strike as not shippable to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Washington. Several of those states also restrict threaded barrels on semi-automatic pistols. Pennsylvania residents can complete the transfer at our shop with a standard background check.
