Description
The OA Defense 2311 Pro S 9mm 5in is the full-size member of the 2311 family: a 5-inch, double-stack single-action 9mm with a 21-round magazine, optics-ready slide and an extended frame for a longer grip and sight radius.
OA Defense 2311 Pro S 9mm 5in Overview
This listing is OA part number OA-2311-FULLSIZE-PRO-S-BLK. It has a 7075 aluminum frame with a polymer grip module and 7075 magwell, a 5-inch stainless barrel, a Dawson Precision RMR-cut optics kit, a Dawson fixed rear sight and a fiber optic front. OA quotes the Pro at 8.50 inches long, 5.25 inches tall, 1.78 inches wide and 28 ounces unloaded, with a 3.5 to 4 pound trigger. It ships with one 21-round and two 17-round Magpul AMAG magazines, the G2 hammer and sear kit, an extended magazine release paddle and a range bag.
Pro Versus Pro S
OA builds the 2311 Pro in ported and non-ported versions. Our distributor describes this Pro S with a plain 5-inch stainless barrel and does not mention porting, so we believe it is the non-ported configuration; the maker photos on this page show the 2311 Pro family and may show porting. If porting matters to you, ask us to confirm before you order.
Full-Size Advantages
The longer slide and extended frame add sight radius and front-end weight, which help the gun settle quickly between shots. At 28 ounces with an aluminum frame, it is still lighter than many steel 2011s, so it works for open carry, home defense and competition alike.
Capacity and Magazines
The 21-round AMAG fills the extended magwell for range and competition use, while the 17-round magazines sit flush for a shorter grip. Magpul AMAG magazines are designed for 2011-pattern pistols, and spares are easier to find than proprietary designs. Keep magazines clean; double-stack single-action guns can be sensitive to worn feed lips.
Single-Action Carry
Like any 1911 or 2011, the Pro S is carried with the hammer back and the ambidextrous manual safety on. Train until disengaging the safety on the draw is automatic, and use a holster that fully covers the trigger guard. The short reset makes fast, accurate strings easier once the manual of arms is second nature.
Optics and Accessories
The RMR cut accepts a wide range of full-size red dots. A weapon light on the dust cover rail is a sensible addition for home defense. Because OA Defense is a newer, smaller maker, holster options are fewer than for mainstream brands; look for makers that list the 2311 Pro specifically.
State Laws and Ownership
Many states regulate magazine capacity, often at 10 or 15 rounds, which would make the 21- and 17-round magazines in this kit illegal there; OA offers 10-round configurations for those markets. California, Massachusetts and a few others restrict sales to approved handgun rosters. Pennsylvania buyers complete a PICS check at the receiving dealer. Confirm your state and local laws before ordering.
