Description
The Sauer 505 Lux is a German-built bolt action rifle that pairs the newest Sauer action with a grade 5 walnut stock. This listing is model 80117098 in 7mm Remington Magnum, with a 24 inch matte blued barrel threaded 1/2×28 and a 2+1 magazine. It is a premium hunting rifle with a price to match, built for hunters who value a fine stock and a smooth action as much as raw accuracy.

Sauer 505 Lux Grade 5 Wood 7mm Rem Mag Overview
The 505 is the successor to the Sauer 404 and is built around a modular system: the barrel, bolt head and magazine can be changed to switch calibers, and Sauer says one receiver covers about 20 chamberings. The barrel is cold hammer forged. Scopes attach with a Sauer saddle mount that clamps to the receiver and is designed to return to zero if you remove and reinstall it. Instead of a conventional safety, the rifle uses manual cocking, so it is only cocked right before you shoot.
Quattro Trigger
Sauer fits the 505 with its Quattro trigger, which offers four preset pull weights of roughly 0.8, 1.7, 2.2 and 2.8 pounds. That lets you set a light release for the bench or a heavier, safer setting for cold hands in the field. Changing the weight is quick and does not require a gunsmith. Take time to learn whichever setting you choose before the season.

Manual Cocking and Safety
The cocking slide on the tang tensions the firing pin only when you push it forward, and it can be decocked silently. Uncocked, the rifle is very safe to carry while still-hunting, climbing into a stand or crossing fences. The system takes practice if you are used to a three-position safety, so run it with an empty chamber until it is second nature. An integrated magazine safety helps stop the magazine dropping out by accident.
The 7mm Remington Magnum
The 7mm Rem Mag is a proven elk, moose and long-range deer cartridge, shooting flat with bullets from about 140 to 175 grains. It recoils noticeably more than a .308 or 6.5, and a 24 inch barrel helps it reach full velocity. Factory ammunition is widely available but costs more than standard cartridges. A muzzle brake on the 1/2×28 threads reduces recoil but greatly increases blast, so wear good hearing protection.
Grade 5 Walnut Stock
Grade 5 is a mid-to-upper wood grade with visible figure, finished for a classic European look. Wood is beautiful but needs care: wipe off rain and blood, store it out of extreme heat, and avoid leaning it against hot vehicle interiors. If you hunt in constant wet weather, a synthetic stocked rifle may make more sense as a working tool.
Value and Ownership
At this price you are paying for German machining, a slick bolt, the saddle mount system and fine wood rather than simply tighter groups. The saddle mount means you should budget for Sauer-compatible scope rings rather than common Picatinny bases. Magnum magazines hold two rounds standard; Sauer offers higher capacity magazines. Expect excellent resale among European rifle fans but a smaller aftermarket than for mass-market American rifles.
State Laws and Ownership
Bolt-action hunting rifles are legal in most states, but some states and localities restrict threaded barrels, require specific hunting calibers or limit suppressor use. Hunting regulations also vary by species and season. Pennsylvania hunters can use the 7mm Rem Mag for deer, bear and elk in season. Check your state and local rules before you order.
