Sauer 100 HS Precision 6.5 PRC 24in – Powerful Heavy Fluted Gray Rifle

Description

This Sauer 100 HS Precision, model S1HSGP65C, is chambered in 6.5 PRC with a 24 inch heavy fluted barrel, gray Cerakote metal and a gray H-S Precision stock with black webbing. Note that our store feed title lists it as 6.5 Creedmoor, but the distributor and manufacturer UPC data for 810496023281 show 6.5 PRC with a 4+1 capacity. Check the barrel marking on delivery before buying ammunition.

Sauer 100 HS Precision 6.5 PRC 24in Overview

The 6.5 PRC pushes the same long, efficient 6.5mm bullets as the Creedmoor roughly 200 to 250 feet per second faster, which flattens trajectory and extends ethical range on deer and pronghorn. The longer 24 inch barrel helps the cartridge reach that velocity. Sauer builds the action in Germany with a cold hammer-forged barrel, three locking lugs and a 60 degree bolt throw, and the H-S Precision stock uses a 7075 aluminum bedding block.

Heavy Fluted Barrel

The heavier contour stays stiffer as it heats up, so groups hold together through a string of shots at the range. Fluting removes some of that weight and adds surface area for cooling. Distributors list the muzzle thread as 5/8-24, which is common for larger brakes and suppressor mounts; confirm the pitch before buying a muzzle device.

Recoil and Ammunition

Recoil from the 6.5 PRC is sharper than the Creedmoor but well below a .300 Win Mag. A solid H-S stock and good recoil pad help. Factory ammunition costs more and is less common on shelves than 6.5 Creedmoor, so buy several boxes of one load once you find what your rifle shoots well. Brass is readily available for handloaders.

Controls

Sauer’s adjustable single-stage trigger sets from about 2.2 to 4.2 pounds. The three-position safety lets you cycle the bolt to unload while the trigger stays blocked. The detachable double-stack magazine holds four rounds of this magnum-class cartridge. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope bases.

Where It Fits

Choose this rifle over the 6.5 Creedmoor version if you hunt open country where shots past 400 yards are realistic, or if you want more energy on elk-sized game with premium bullets. If most of your shots are inside 300 yards in Pennsylvania woods, the Creedmoor is cheaper to feed and kinder to shoot.

Optics and Setup

Pair it with a scope that has reliable turrets or a ballistic reticle so you can use the extra reach, and mount it with quality rings and a torque wrench. A bipod or rear bag helps with the heavier barrel. Confirm zero at 100 yards and verify drops at real distances before hunting.

State Laws and Ownership

Bolt-action hunting rifles are legal in most states, but some states and localities restrict threaded barrels, require specific hunting calibers or limit suppressor use. Hunting regulations also vary by species and season. Pennsylvania allows the 6.5 PRC for deer, bear and elk in season. Check your state and local rules before you order.

Before You Buy

Federal law requires rifle buyers to be 18 or older when buying from a licensed dealer, and the rifle ships to your local FFL for the background check. No optic, rings or bases are included.
