Description
The ATI GSG-16 Pistol 22 LR 912 is the pistol version of the German Sport Guns GSG-16, a 22 Long Rifle semi-automatic styled after a classic German submachine gun, imported by American Tactical (ATI). It has a 9.12 inch barrel, a black finish and a 22-round magazine. This listing is UPC 810113113692, ATI part number GERGGSG1622P.
ATI GSG-16 Pistol 22 LR 912 Overview
The GSG-16 gives you the look and handling of a famous military design at rimfire cost. It is a blowback-operated 22 LR with a polymer receiver, a full-length Picatinny top rail for a red dot, accessory rails on the handguard, front and rear sights, an ambidextrous charging handle and a polymer grip. The 22-round magazine also interchanges with GSG-5 and GSG-522 magazines. Like most rimfire semi-autos it runs best on high-velocity ammunition, and ATI recommends loads around 1,260 fps.
Fun and Affordable Practice
The main appeal is shooting a lot for very little money. 22 LR ammunition costs a fraction of centerfire, recoil is almost nothing and the report is mild, so it is a great way to introduce new shooters to a full-size pistol-style firearm.
Ammunition Tips
Rimfire guns can be picky. Use high-velocity 36 to 40 grain loads, avoid subsonic and standard-velocity ammo for reliable cycling, and clean the chamber and bolt face regularly, because 22 LR is dirty and buildup causes malfunctions.
Stay Legal With Pistols
This is a pistol, not a rifle. Adding a shoulder stock to a pistol with a barrel under 16 inches creates a short-barreled rifle, and adding a vertical foregrip creates an AOW under the NFA. Both require ATF approval before the change. A sling or a horizontal handstop is fine.
Spec Note
A few distributor listings describe this UPC as the 16.25 inch GSG-16 carbine. This listing is the GSG-16 pistol with the 9.12 inch barrel, matching the ATI part number GERGGSG1622P and the product photos. Contact us before ordering if you want to confirm.
Optics and Accessories
The top rail takes a red dot or a small scope. A light on the side rail is handy for indoor ranges, and spare 22-round magazines save time at the bench.
State Laws
Some states restrict pistols with certain features or magazines over 10 rounds. Check your state and local laws and confirm your dealer can transfer handguns.
