Description
The Savage B22 Timberlite Thumbhole 22 LR is a bolt-action rimfire rifle with an 18-inch carbon fiber wrapped stainless steel barrel, a gray wood thumbhole stock, a 10-round rotary magazine, and a user-adjustable trigger. It weighs about 5.3 lbs and is built for accurate, dependable shooting.
Savage B22 Timberlite Thumbhole 22 LR Overview
The B Series Timberlite Thumbhole combines Savage’s accurate rimfire bolt action with a lightweight carbon fiber wrapped barrel and a striking ambidextrous thumbhole stock, giving you a compact rifle that looks as good as it shoots. The 22 LR is the most popular cartridge in the world for good reason: ammunition is affordable and easy to find, recoil is almost nonexistent, and it is quiet enough for plinking, squirrel hunting, and hours of practice.
Barrel and Action
The 18-inch stainless steel barrel is wrapped in carbon fiber for stiffness at a fraction of the weight of a solid steel barrel, with a 1:16 twist matched to 22 LR bullets, thread-in headspacing for consistent accuracy, and a muzzle threaded 1/2-28 with a protective cap.
Stock and Fit
The ambidextrous wood thumbhole stock is finished in gray with a black spiderweb pattern and puts your hand in a natural, near-vertical position for a straight-back trigger press, whether you shoot right- or left-handed. Two sling studs make it easy to add a sling.
Optics Ready
One-piece Weaver-style bases come installed, so mounting a rimfire scope is quick and simple.
User-Adjustable Trigger
Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you set your own pull weight for a crisp, clean break, a big advantage on small targets. The center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge, and the light, predictable pull helps new shooters build good habits.
Magazine and Handling
The 10-round rotary magazine feeds smoothly and sits nearly flush with the bottom of the stock, so it stays out of the way when you carry the rifle or shoot from a rest. Spare magazines make range days more productive, and dropping the magazine makes unloading quick and safe.
In the Field
Rimfire rifles often prefer one load over another, so try a few brands of 22 LR to see which groups best in your barrel. Lighter, faster bullets are great for small pests, while heavier bullets buck the wind better. Pair the rifle with a quality rimfire scope and a steady rest, and you will be surprised how far you can make precise hits.
Care and Cleaning
Rimfire ammunition leaves more fouling than most centerfire loads, so a little routine care keeps the Savage B22 Timberlite Thumbhole 22 LR running smoothly and shooting accurately. After a range session, wipe down the bolt and chamber area, run a few patches through the bore, and put a light coat of oil on exposed metal. Store the rifle in a dry place and it will give you years of dependable service.
