Description

The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus compensated 3.5-inch is the shortest gun in the Romulus line and, thanks to the compensator hanging off the threaded muzzle, one of the flattest-shooting. Alpha Foxtrot machines the frame, slide and bull ramped barrel from SUS416 stainless steel and coats all three in DLC black, then bolts on an aluminum grip module with an assembled magwell. This listing ships with five magazines.

A Compensator on a Carry-Length Slide

3.5-inch SUS416 stainless bull ramped barrel, DLC black, 1:10 twist, threaded at the muzzle.

Compensator installed on the threads, which is what makes the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus compensated build track so flat for its size.

Frame and slide are also SUS416 stainless in DLC black, so the whole gun wears evenly instead of showing a two-tone as it breaks in.

Front and rear slide serrations plus anti-glare top serrations.

Aluminum Grip Module and the MOS Optic System

Aluminum grip module with an assembled magwell, heavier and stiffer than the polymer module and noticeably better at soaking up recoil.

MOS adapter cut in the slide, shipped with P1 (Trijicon RMR pattern) and P2 (Holosun pattern) plates so most common red dots mount without a separate purchase.

Standard front sight cut ahead of the optic mounting area.

Fully ambidextrous controls suit left- and right-handed shooters equally.

Trigger breaks at roughly 3.5 to 4 pounds.

Short 1911 pattern guns usually pay for their size in muzzle rise, because there is less slide mass and less dwell time to soak up the impulse. A compensator flips that math. Gas bled upward through the comp pushes the muzzle back down between shots, and the aluminum grip module adds weight exactly where it helps most, down low and behind the trigger. The result is a 3.5-inch gun that returns to the dot faster than most 4.25-inch builds.

Why it is worth considering

  • Compensated and threaded from the factory, no gunsmithing and no separate muzzle device to buy.
  • Aluminum grip module rather than polymer, for added weight and a stiffer feel.
  • Two optic adapter plates in the box, covering Trijicon and Holosun footprints.
  • Five magazines included, so you can load up for a match day without buying spares.
  • SUS416 stainless throughout, DLC coated for corrosion resistance.

Who it suits

Shooters who carry a double-stack 1911 and still want match-grade recoil control will get the most out of the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus compensated 3.5-inch, and the five-magazine bundle makes it an easy first competition gun. Keep in mind that a compensator directs gas and noise sideways, so it is worth a few range sessions before it goes on the nightstand.

How the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus Compensated Model Compares

Alpha Foxtrot builds the Romulus in 3.5-inch, 4.25-inch and 5-inch lengths with standard, threaded and compensated barrels, and with either a polymer or an aluminum grip module. If you would rather have the full-size sight radius, compare this against the 5-inch polished standard barrel build or the 5-inch threaded model. Complete model details and magazine options are published by the maker at Alpha Foxtrot.

Ammunition choice matters more with a comp than without one. Heavier bullets generate more gas volume and drive a compensator harder, so 124-grain and 147-grain loads usually flatten the gun better than light target ammo. A 124-grain jacketed hollow point is a sensible carry load, with 115-grain full metal jacket kept for volume practice. All firearm orders ship to a licensed FFL dealer for transfer, and MAG5 Firearms will coordinate the paperwork with the dealer of your choice.
