The Browning A5 Sweet 16 Auric 28 Inch is the Browning A5 Sweet Sixteen Auric, a recoil operated semi automatic 16 gauge with a 28 inch barrel, a 2 3/4 inch chamber and a composite stock and forearm covered in Browning AURIC camo. This listing is UPC 023614855484, Browning item 0119155004. It weighs about 6 lb 2 oz, measures 49 5/8 in. overall and holds 4 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells.
Browning A5 Sweet 16 Auric 28 Inch Overview
The A5 name goes back to John Browning and the original Auto-5, and the modern A5 keeps the famous humpback receiver profile. The Sweet Sixteen name honors the classic Auto-5 in 16 gauge, a long time favorite of bird hunters, and the 16 gauge sits between the 20 and the 12 in payload and recoil.
Kinematic Drive Action
Kinematic Drive is a short recoil inertia design. The bolt and barrel use recoil energy to cycle the action, which keeps carbon out of the receiver and lets the gun run clean in cold, wet weather. Like any inertia gun, it needs a firm shoulder to cycle reliably.
Adjustable Composite Stock
The composite stock has a vertical grip and textured gripping surfaces, and it is shim adjustable for length of pull, cast and drop so you can fit it to your build. Browning lists a 14 1/4 inch length of pull and an Inflex 2 recoil pad.
Auric Camo
The stock, forearm and metal are covered in Browning AURIC camo. AURIC is the Browning designed concealment pattern, with gold and tan tones meant to blend into dry grass, cut fields and late season marsh.
Barrel, Sight and Chokes
The 28 inch barrel has a fiber optic front sight and takes flush Invector-DS choke tubes. Browning includes Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder.
16 Gauge Ammunition
16 gauge shells are not stocked as widely as 12 or 20 gauge, especially non toxic waterfowl loads, so buy ammunition before the season. This gun has a 2 3/4 inch chamber, so do not use longer shells.
Waterfowl Plug
Federal law limits migratory bird hunting to three shells total, so install the magazine plug before you hunt ducks, geese or doves. Check your state rules as well.
Cleaning and Care
Wipe the gun down after a wet hunt and keep a light coat of oil on internal parts. Clean the choke threads so the tubes do not seize.
State Laws
Shotguns are legal to buy in most places, but hunting rules vary by state and species. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
