Description
The Tisas PX-9 Duty 9mm 15-Round is the plain-black, standard-capacity version of Tisas’s service-size striker pistol. It keeps the optic cut and grip options of the higher-capacity PX-9s but ships with two 15-round magazines, which makes it legal in more places.
Tisas PX-9 Duty 9mm 15-Round Overview
Tisas is a long-running Turkish manufacturer, and the PX-9 is its affordable answer to the polymer duty pistols that dominate US holsters. This version has a 4.1-inch barrel, a 7.2-inch overall length and an unloaded weight of about 1 pound 8 ounces. Distributor specifications list a fiber optic front sight, a serrated rear sight, an RMR-footprint slide cut, interchangeable grip panels, a lockable hard case and an included inside-the-waistband holster.
Why Fifteen Rounds
Fifteen-round magazines are the legal ceiling in some states, such as Colorado, and they are easier to conceal than 18- or 20-round sticks. The pistol is the same full grip either way, so the shorter magazines sit flush and do not change how the gun feels in hand. If you live where higher capacity is legal, the PX-9 frame also accepts the longer factory magazines.
Included Holster
Tisas packs an IWB holster with this model, which gets you carrying or training right away. Treat it as a starting point: many owners upgrade to a Kydex holster with adjustable retention and cant once they know how they like to carry. Whatever you use, it must fully cover the trigger, because the PX-9 has no manual thumb safety.
Sights and Red Dot
The fiber optic front is quick in daylight but has no glow at night, so plan on a weapon light or a red dot for low-light use. The RMR-footprint cut accepts popular reflex sights; confirm your iron sights are tall enough for any co-witness you want.
Range Performance
The PX-9 has a reputation for being easy to shoot well: a tall, flat slide, a grip that rides low in the hand and a trigger that is clean for the price class. Give it a few hundred rounds of brass-cased ammunition to break in before trusting it for defense, and test your chosen hollow point for reliable feeding.
Ownership Notes
Spare 15-round PX-9 magazines are less common than Glock or SIG patterns, aftermarket parts are limited, and resale value is lower than the big brands. In return you get a lot of pistol for the money.
Maintenance
The PX-9 field strips like most striker pistols: lock the slide, rotate the takedown lever and remove the slide. Clean the barrel and feed ramp, wipe the rails and add a drop of oil.
State Laws and Ownership
Even at 15 rounds, this pistol is not compliant everywhere: California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, Washington and several other states cap magazines at 10 rounds or restrict new handgun sales through rosters. Check your state and local laws before ordering.
