Description
The GForce Arms GFY-1 is a magazine-fed bullpup 12 gauge that packs an 18.5-inch barrel into an overall length of just 28.5 inches. That is only two inches longer than a Mossberg 590 Shockwave, but with a full shoulder stock and a gas-operated semi-automatic action.
Bullpup Layout, Full-Length Barrel
Moving the action and magazine behind the trigger is what lets a bullpup carry a legal 18.5-inch barrel in a package most pump guns cannot match. Every inch of that barrel still does its job on pattern and velocity. The GForce Arms GFY-1 also puts the weight rearward, closer to your body, which makes it far easier to swing through doorways and hallways than a conventional shotgun.
Gas-Operated Semi-Automatic Action
This is a gas gun, not inertia driven, so recoil is noticeably softer than a pump or a recoil-operated autoloader firing the same shell. It handles both 2 3/4 and 3-inch 12 gauge ammunition. GForce recommends running 1400 FPS or higher velocity loads for the first 150 rounds to break the action in properly, which is worth following.
Detachable Box Magazines
Feeding comes from detachable magazines rather than a tube, so reloads take a second instead of a fumbling shell-by-shell top-up. A five-round magazine ships with the gun, and ten-round magazines are available. The GForce Arms GFY-1 is also compatible with MKA-1919 pattern magazines, which widens your options considerably.
Threaded Barrel and Chokes
The barrel is threaded for Benelli Mobil chokes and ships with a modified tube installed. That means the enormous existing choke market fits directly, from cylinder for buckshot to full for turkey loads. Swapping chokes is the cheapest way to change what this shotgun does well.
Rails, Sights and Sling Mounts
Picatinny rail runs along the top and the bottom of the receiver. Flip-up adjustable sights come mounted on the top rail and fold out of the way if you prefer a red dot, which is the faster option for defensive work. A quick-disconnect sling socket is built in, and the receiver is Cerakoted aluminum over a polymer body.
Handling and Ergonomics
Bullpups feel odd for the first magazine and then make sense. The balance point sits between your hands, so the GForce Arms GFY-1 stays level with far less muscle than a muzzle-heavy conventional shotgun.
The polymer stock puts your cheek directly over the action, which takes a session to get used to but pays off in how quickly the gun tracks between targets.
Controls sit within reach of the firing hand, and the magazine release is large enough to hit with gloves on. Recoil with standard buckshot is manageable for most shooters thanks to the gas system and the eight-pound weight.

Who Should Buy It
This is a home defense and truck gun first. The short overall length, detachable magazines and soft-shooting gas action are exactly what you want when space is tight and follow-up shots matter.
The GForce Arms GFY-1 is heavy at 8 pounds, and bullpup triggers are longer and less crisp than conventional ones because of the linkage. Break-in with full-power loads is required, and light target ammunition may not cycle reliably.
Hunters who need a lightweight field gun, or anyone wanting a crisp trigger for clays, should look at a conventional semi-auto in our catalog instead. Every firearm we list ships to your chosen FFL and is transferred in accordance with federal and state law.
