Grizzly 357 SIG 125gr Bonebreaker FP – Rugged Bear Defense Ammo

Description

The Grizzly 357 SIG 125gr Bonebreaker FP load, item GC357S3, is a 20 round box of 357 SIG ammunition from Grizzly Cartridge Company, loaded with a 125 grain Bonebreaker flat point bullet rated at 1480 fps with 608 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Grizzly recommends it for protection against aggressive dangerous animals.

Grizzly 357 SIG 125gr Bonebreaker FP Overview

This load gives 357 SIG owners a hard, non-expanding option for the woods. Grizzly drives a 125 grain Bonebreaker flat point to a rated 1480 fps with 608 foot-pounds of energy, combining the high speed of the bottleneck cartridge with a bullet built to penetrate. Many people own a 357 SIG duty pistol already, and a load like this lets them carry it while hiking, hunting or working outdoors where large animals are a concern, without switching to a bigger caliber.

Bullet Design

Bonebreaker is Grizzly Cartridge’s name for its hard, non-expanding flat point bullet. A wide, flat meplat crushes and cuts tissue instead of simply pushing it aside, and because the bullet does not expand, it keeps driving in a straight line for deep penetration through muscle and bone. That is why loads like this are a common choice for protection against bears and other large animals, where reaching the vitals matters more than expansion.

Intended Use

Grizzly recommends this load for protection against aggressive and dangerous animals. The flat point is designed for straight-line penetration through muscle and bone, which matters more than expansion when dealing with large animals. It is not intended as a typical urban self-defense load, where over-penetration is a concern; for that, consider a hollow point instead.

Firearm Compatibility

This ammunition is made for pistols chambered in 357 SIG, such as the Glock 31, 32 and 33 and the SIG P229 and P320 in 357 SIG. Many 40 S&W pistols can be converted with a 357 SIG barrel; use this ammunition only with a barrel marked 357 SIG. Do not fire it in a 40 S&W, 10mm or 9mm chamber.

Grizzly Cartridge Company

Grizzly Cartridge Company is an American ammunition maker known for heavy, hard-hitting loads for hunters, outdoorsmen and handgunners who carry in bear country, along with cowboy action, defense and safari ammunition. Its loads are made in the USA, and many are built to run at the upper end of what each cartridge allows, so always match the load to your firearm.

Recoil and Shootability

The 357 SIG is a high-pressure bottlenecked cartridge with a sharp, fast recoil impulse and a loud report. It is controllable in full-size duty pistols, and practice helps manage muzzle rise during quick strings.

Practice and Testing

Fire at least a box through your own firearm before you rely on this load for hunting, competition or protection. Confirm reliable feeding and extraction, and check where it prints at the distances you expect to shoot, since heavy or fast loads often hit to a different point than light practice ammunition.

Storage and Care

Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original box, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect rounds for dents, loose bullets or corrosion before loading.
