Grizzly 357 SIG 90gr JHP – Blazing Defense Ammo

Description

The Grizzly 357 SIG 90gr JHP load, item GC357S2, is a 20 round box of 357 SIG ammunition from Grizzly Cartridge Company, loaded with a 90 grain jacketed hollow point bullet rated at 1900 fps with 721 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Grizzly recommends it for self defense.

Grizzly 357 SIG 90gr JHP Overview

The 357 SIG was designed to match the performance of a 357 Magnum revolver load in a semi-auto pistol, and this Grizzly load leans hard into speed. A very light 90 grain jacketed hollow point is rated at 1900 fps with 721 foot-pounds of energy, numbers that make it one of the fastest handgun loads available. The bottleneck case feeds smoothly in duty pistols, and the light, fast bullet shoots very flat at defensive distances. It is a distinctive choice for 357 SIG owners who want maximum velocity.

Bullet Design

A jacketed hollow point opens up on impact, increasing its frontal area and transferring energy to the target while limiting over-penetration compared with solid bullets. Grizzly loads its JHP rounds for self-defense, with a jacket designed to hold together as the bullet expands. At high impact speeds like this load produces, expansion is fast and violent, so penetration is typically shallower than with heavier bullets.

Intended Use

Grizzly lists this load for self-defense. The fast hollow point expands quickly and transfers energy in the target, which can limit over-penetration in a home or urban setting. Because very light bullets can penetrate less than heavier ones, some shooters prefer a heavier load for barriers or vehicle work. For protection against large animals, Grizzly offers a 125 grain Bonebreaker flat point in 357 SIG.

Firearm Compatibility

This ammunition is made for pistols chambered in 357 SIG, such as the Glock 31, 32 and 33 and the SIG P229 and P320 in 357 SIG. Many 40 S&W pistols can be converted with a 357 SIG barrel; use this ammunition only with a barrel marked 357 SIG. Do not fire it in a 40 S&W, 10mm or 9mm chamber.

Grizzly Cartridge Company

Grizzly Cartridge Company is an American ammunition maker known for heavy, hard-hitting loads for hunters, outdoorsmen and handgunners who carry in bear country, along with cowboy action, defense and safari ammunition. Its loads are made in the USA, and many are built to run at the upper end of what each cartridge allows, so always match the load to your firearm.

Recoil and Shootability

The 357 SIG is a high-pressure bottlenecked cartridge with a sharp, fast recoil impulse and a loud report. It is controllable in full-size duty pistols, and practice helps manage muzzle rise during quick strings.

Practice and Testing

Fire at least a box through your own firearm before you rely on this load for hunting, competition or protection. Confirm reliable feeding and extraction, and check where it prints at the distances you expect to shoot, since heavy or fast loads often hit to a different point than light practice ammunition.

Storage and Care

Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original box, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect rounds for dents, loose bullets or corrosion before loading.
