Grand Slam Performance in Anniversary Packaging
Like every Grand Slam load, this anniversary version is built to extend the range of a lead turkey payload. Federal pairs copper-plated lead pellets with a buffering compound that cushions the shot during firing. Buffered pellets deform less, and round pellets fly straighter and hold together in a denser shot string.
The FLITECONTROL FLEX wad is designed to work through both standard and ported turkey chokes. It opens from the rear for a controlled release of the payload, which helps produce extremely consistent patterns at turkey distances. A roll crimp and clear card wad keep the buffering material in place until the shot.
The box itself is part of the appeal. The limited-run Realtree Original camo packaging celebrates the pattern that helped change turkey hunting, so these shells make a fun addition to a hunting vest or a collection.

Turkey Season Tips
Use Federal Grand Slam Realtree 40th 12ga only in shotguns chambered for 3 inch or longer 12 gauge shells.
Pattern your shotgun with this load and your turkey choke at 20, 30 and 40 yards before the season so you know your effective range.
Aim for the head and neck, and keep shots within the distance where your pattern stays dense.
Confirm your state regulations allow lead shot for turkey where you plan to hunt.
Federal Grand Slam Realtree 40th 12ga ammo is a proven-design choice for turkey hunters who want Grand Slam performance in a collectible anniversary box.
Number 5 shot is a popular size for turkey loads. It balances pellet count with energy per pellet, giving you enough pellets for a dense head and neck pattern and enough energy to do the job at sensible turkey ranges.
A 1-3/4 ounce, 3 inch 12 gauge load produces stout recoil. A good recoil pad and a solid seated or kneeling position against a tree make a big difference, and you will usually only need one well-placed shot.
Many hunters keep a box of Federal Grand Slam Realtree 40th 12ga shells for the spring season and save the box itself as a keepsake once the shells are gone. Since this is a limited run, it is worth picking up enough for patterning plus the season.
Store shells in a cool, dry place in their original box, and keep your choke tube clean so your pattern stays consistent from one hunt to the next.
Before opening day, shoot a few Federal Grand Slam Realtree 40th 12ga rounds at a turkey target so you know exactly where your pattern centers with your sights or optic.
