Description
The Federal 12 ga 2oz #5 Grand Slam load is built for hunters who want dependable patterns on spring and fall turkeys. Federal loads 2 oz of #5 copper-plated lead shot to a rated 1200 feet per second in a 3-1/2 in 12 Gauge shell. Federal Grand Slam turkey loads combine copper-plated lead shot with the FliteControl Flex wad, which holds the shot column together well after it leaves the muzzle for dense, even patterns at turkey ranges. This load packs 2 oz of #5 shot into a 3-1/2 in 12 Gauge hull.

- Dense patterns for clean head-and-neck shots
- Proven, time-tested turkey load
Patterning your shotgun with a new load is the best way to know how it performs. Shoot a few rounds at a large sheet of paper at 25 to 35 yards with the choke you plan to hunt with, and check that the densest part of the pattern lines up with your point of aim. Trying a tighter or more open choke can make a real difference on fast, close birds.
Store shotshells in a cool, dry place in their original box, and keep loads with different shot sizes separated so you always grab the right shell in the field. Buying enough from the same lot for the whole season keeps velocity and pattern consistent from one hunt to the next, so your practice carries over to the field.

Why Choose Federal 12 Gauge Shotshells
A turkey load has one job: put enough pellets into the head and neck of a gobbler to end the hunt cleanly. Grand Slam uses hard, copper-plated shot that holds its shape through the bore and the FliteControl Flex wad that releases the payload late, so more pellets stay in the pattern core at 30 to 40 yards.
The 3 1/2 inch shell carries a full 2 ounce payload, putting the maximum number of pellets in the air for hunters who want the densest possible pattern from a 12 gauge magnum.
Federal Premium has made ammunition in Anoka, Minnesota since 1922 and is one of the most trusted names in turkey hunting. Its Grand Slam line was developed with serious turkey hunters, and federal 12 ga ammo from this line is chosen by hunters who want dense patterns at real-world turkey distances.
Grand Slam 3 1/2 inch 12 gauge loads suit turkey hunters with super magnum shotguns who want maximum pellet count and pattern density at longer turkey ranges. Always confirm your shotgun is chambered for 3-1/2 in 12 Gauge shells, wear eye and ear protection, and follow all federal, state and local hunting laws.

Choosing 12 Ga Turkey Loads
When comparing 12 ga turkey loads, pattern density at 30 to 40 yards matters more than anything else. The 12 ga grand slam line uses copper-plated shot and the FliteControl Flex wad to keep more pellets in the pattern core, giving turkey hunters the dense patterns needed for clean head-and-neck shots.
