Description
The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus MOS cut is the full-size 5-inch build for shooters who have not settled on an optic yet. Instead of committing the slide to one footprint, Alpha Foxtrot machines a common adapter pocket and ships both an RMSc plate and an RMR plate in the box. Under that sits a 20+1 double-stack 1911 in 9mm, built from SUS416 stainless steel and coated in polished black DLC.
A Full-Size Match Barrel and 20+1 Capacity
5-inch Ultra Match 416R button-rifled bull barrel with a ramped feed ramp and a 1:10 right-hand twist.
Full-size sight radius, which is the main reason to choose the Alpha Foxtrot Romulus MOS cut over the 4.25-inch and 3.5-inch builds.
SUS416 stainless frame and slide, both finished in polished black DLC for corrosion resistance and a low-friction cycling feel.
Serrated slide, extended beavertail and a Picatinny accessory rail on the dust cover.
MOS Adapter Cut With Both Plates Supplied
Adapter plates for the RMSc and the RMR footprints are included, covering most compact and full-size red dots on the market.
Night Fision tritium night sights are fitted at the factory.
Injected polymer grip module over a steel double-stack frame, the 2011 layout that gives this platform its capacity.
Fully ambidextrous controls and a flared magwell.
Part number AA39X1EID-PDBK19.

Direct optic cuts look cleaner, but they lock a slide to one footprint for its whole life. The adapter approach costs a fraction of a millimeter in mounting height and buys years of flexibility, which matters on a pistol that will likely outlast two or three red dots. It also means a shooter can start with a small RMSc-pattern optic for carry and move up to a full-size RMR-pattern window for competition without a second slide.
Why it is worth considering
- Both common optic plates included rather than sold separately.
- 20+1 capacity with full-size 1911 trigger geometry.
- Polished DLC over SUS416 stainless on frame, slide and barrel.
- Tritium night sights fitted at the factory.
- Built in America with a match-grade button-rifled barrel.
Who it suits
This is the pistol for the shooter who wants a full-size double-stack 1911 and expects to change optics at least once. The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus MOS cut suits USPSA Limited Optics and Carry Optics shooters, and the accessory rail plus night sights make it a credible home defense gun on the nights it is not at a match.

Picking a Romulus: Cut, Length and Muzzle
Alpha Foxtrot offers the Romulus in 3.5-inch, 4.25-inch and 5-inch lengths, with a direct RMSc cut or this MOS adapter cut, and with standard, threaded or compensated barrels. If you already know you want a small carry optic and would rather have the direct cut, compare the 5-inch RMSc polished build. If a muzzle device is in your future, look at the 5-inch threaded model, or the 4.25-inch compensated build for a shorter, flatter-shooting package. Model details are published by the maker at Alpha Foxtrot.
A 20+1 magazine empties fast, so keep a practice load alongside a carry load. A 124-grain jacketed hollow point is a sound defensive round in a 5-inch barrel, with 115-grain full metal jacket for range volume. All firearm orders ship to a licensed FFL dealer for transfer, and MAG5 Firearms will coordinate the paperwork with the dealer of your choice.
