Description
The Liberty Bear Country 9mm +P 72gr is Liberty Ammunition take on a high-speed 9mm load. It uses a lead-free 72 grain solid copper bullet loaded to +P pressure and rated at 1,850 fps, producing about 596 ft-lbs of energy. Each box holds 20 rounds.
What Makes the Liberty Bear Country 9mm +P 72gr Different
Most 9mm defensive loads use 115 to 147 grain jacketed hollow points traveling at 1,000 to 1,250 fps. Liberty goes the other direction, using a very light monolithic copper bullet at extreme velocity. The idea is to deliver rapid energy transfer through high speed rather than bullet mass.
A monolithic copper bullet is a single piece of copper alloy, so there is no jacket to separate from a lead core. It is also lead-free, which is helpful for shooters in areas with lead restrictions or anyone who prefers lead-free 9mm ammo for training.
The light bullet produces less felt recoil than many standard defense loads, which can help with fast, controlled follow-up shots, especially in compact pistols.
Things to Consider Before Carrying the Liberty Bear Country 9mm +P 72gr
This is a +P load, so confirm your pistol is rated for +P ammunition before use. Most modern service pistols are, but some older or very small pistols are not, and +P ammunition accelerates wear.
Despite the name, a 72 grain 9mm bullet is not what most experts recommend for large bears. Deep penetration through heavy muscle and bone typically calls for heavy, flat-nosed hard cast bullets in larger calibers. Treat this high velocity 9mm load as a general outdoor and defensive option, and choose accordingly for grizzly country.
Test function and point of impact in your pistol. Very light, fast bullets can shoot to a different point of aim than standard ammunition, and slide timing may differ.
