Description
The Hornady 204 Ruger 40gr V-MAX load is built for shooters who want more from their .204 Ruger than typical factory ammunition delivers. Hornady loads a 40 grain V-MAX polymer tip to a rated 3900 feet per second, producing about 1351 foot-pounds of energy. Superformance ammunition uses specially blended propellants to reach velocities up to 200 fps faster than standard loads without extra pressure or recoil. Paired with a polymer-tipped varmint bullet, it delivers an extremely flat trajectory and explosive expansion on prairie dogs, coyotes and other varmints.

- Consistent accuracy shot after shot
Buying ammunition by the box from the same production lot keeps velocity and point of impact consistent from one range trip to the next. Keep a record of the load you carry, check your ammunition for dents or loose bullets from time to time, and rotate your carry rounds so the ones in your firearm stay fresh. These simple habits help you get the full performance Hornady builds into every cartridge.
Before you trust any new load, fire enough rounds through your firearm to confirm it feeds, fires and ejects reliably and that the point of impact matches your sights. Full-power loads produce more recoil and muzzle blast than typical range ammo, so practice with the Hornady 204 Ruger 40gr V-MAX until you are comfortable with it, and store the rest in a cool, dry place in the original box.
About the .204 Ruger
Hornady and Ruger introduced the .204 Ruger in 2004 as one of the fastest commercial cartridges ever produced. Light 32 to 40 grain bullets leave the muzzle above 4,000 feet per second, giving an extremely flat trajectory and minimal recoil that lets shooters spot their own hits on prairie dogs, groundhogs and coyotes.
